need a little more power

A fresh fuel filter can do wonders for a power complaint.

Why haven't I seen this idea in here before now?
A mild tune-up on a truck that old can make an amazing difference.

The simple questions: How old is the air filter? fuel filter? Plugs? Wires? Vacuum hoses all okay? Done a Trans power flush... ever? What about rear gear oil?

Each of those things alone might result in a pittance of a gain, but taken all together could be substantial enough to get you where you want to be. It's all in the synergy. I've seen too many kids bolt headers, and JUST headers onto their stock camaros and firechickens and do nothing but whine.

Or maybe we assume that everyone keeps up their trucks like Sludge does.:D

good idea but mine is good in that part new rears tranny and a full tune up filters to but you are right some people dont do that sort of stuff my truck is not slower that any other truck set up the same as mine i am looking at a 5 speed swap might have one cheap that should be enufff i hope

by far you are better off with a re-gear. that is the best performance mod for the dollar you can make on any engine. as long as it is in tune and the maintenance has been kept up.

i had 4.10s in the truck but i mess up the one gear set so i went 3.73 my mpg went way up so i dont want to change them now
