How the heck does the stupid throttle cable come off? I'm trying to replace mine and I can't figure out how to remove it! Please help!

What end are you having problems with? The gas pedal attachment is sorta like the parking brake...it's just a blob of lead at the end of the wire that goes through a hole...the other end usually just pops off at the knob...but you've got fuel injection so there might be some other method of attaching on those...

Stud ball...knob...same diff...sounds like a good name for a porno though...

It's the part that goes through the firewall that I can't figure out.

It's easier when loosened from the engine...just pull through and it hooks in through a sortof v-shaped notch at the top of the pedal lever mechanism...not the actual pedal but the part that the pedal pushes on (to lift it away from the firewall) it's just a flat piece of metal with a notch...so lifting the cable upwards and pushing it forwards should allow you to remove that end of it...

Sorry...been a while since I attached mine but that's what I recall...

I've got it disconnected from the pedal already. How does it detach from the firewall?

On the outside of the firewall there should be one or two bolts that hold it in place...they may be hard to get at because they are close to the booster IIRC and there may be a ground wire running in front of them that connects to the engine...but they're something like a 9 or 10 mm socket usually (they were on my truck)...

Mine is a '93 and I can assure you there are no bolts on the firewall! I pulled the throttle cable off of a Supercoupe in the wrecking yard a long time ago, and I can't remember how I got the stupid thing off, but I can assure you that it didn't involve bolts.

Hmmm...well, if it's free at both ends then I'd say yank on it from the front end...there may be a plastic quide that it goes through on yours that somehow clips onto the firewall...are you not able to see where it passes through???

Mine has a metal guide that bolts on but it's from a 78 Mustang II...

I'll give that a try, but it seems to me that it's attached to the firewall in a way that should enable the dumb thing to be removed. I wonder if there's a special tool involved . . .

i may be wrong but, dont those have squeze tabs which expand when in place... i.e. squeze them to remove.

Ah, THAT may be! They'd probably squeeze from the INSIDE, right? I'll have a look when it's light outside.

yes, i believe they squeeze from the inside. dont hold me to this, just a speculation.

Probably right...squeeze tabs...
