4x4 not engaging. Light?

I have an 01 ranger 4x4, 4.0 super with electric shifting, the 4x4 dash light doesn't turn on and no sign of 4x4 engaging. any ideas?????????

i had a similar issue with my 93. i replaced the auto hubs with manual and replaced the shift module ( which wasnt the fix ),then had to repair the shift motor on the t-case. see the electric t-case sticky. mine had the plastic bushing broken. i fabed up a bushing and it works like a charm.

First check the fuses.

The 01's (including Explorers) had a rash of 4wd Controllers going bad, frequently after the battery was disconnected or replaced. Part number is 1L54-7H417-AC, good luck finding one "cheap".

I had the same problem on my 06. Transfer case motor. Rock auto $124 with $35 core charge.
