My 1st post here.
With having 6 SHO's and extensive parts this route seems feasable.
I currently have a Nissan reg cab and love it.
However, I need an ext cab for my business I plan to start soon.
Here's the one I plan to convert.
It has 95k miles, is rust free and has a bad motor and trans (2.9 + AT).
I should be bringing it home in the next 2-4 weeks.
I have the motor, computer and all wiring.
A friend has a T5 from either a Tbird TC / SC that may have appropriate ratios.
Any help is appreciated.
I need the MT pedal assembly and ground effects.

Nice find.

What motor will you be using?

you might want to move this to the "other engine conversion" forum

Nice find........I got a truck with the ground effects, the front AND rear bumpers needed for the GFX, and the maual pedal setup.......lmk:icon_thumby:

I will be installing the 3.0 SHO motor with a T5.
I have 4 SHO motors on hand.
I need to build a good cruiser and mpg's are a consideration.
I'll be traveling state to state often.

No 3.2's in your collection to use instead?

More torque, but no.
I only deal in the Gen 1's, 1989-1991.
The 3.2 with ATX didn't appear until 1993.

Yeah, I knew when it appeared but just figured among your six there might be an ATX model.

very cool. keep us up-to-date on this project and document everything!

ill help where i can (ive done a ton of research on the swap, but never actually done it).

you know ford put an SHO in a GT back in '90. you may have seen this in the other SHO thread, but in case you missed it: http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1386 (2nd page, post #27)

I don't know where you will find a bell housing to go from the SHO motor to a T5. It may be easier to use a Ranger M5OD R1. The clutch would be much easier to connect as well.
The motor mounts and exhaust will need a bit of custom fabrication as well.
There could also be an issue with the oil pan.

Good luck on your build, I'll help in anyway I can.

'85-'87 aerostars equipped with a 3.0 v6 and 5 speed transmission have the coveted removeable vulcan bellhousing. if he could locate one of these, bolting the SHO to the T5 would be a sinch.

i believe will or allan or one of those guys with a ton of RBV junk laying around claims to have one of these bellhousings.

the M5OD is an option...but the T5 has superior gearing for a high winder like the SHO....plus could be considered a little stronger.

The TK/mitsu bell housing will not bolt to a t5.
I have three of those bell housings and will NOT part with one.

Actually a friend of mine has the Aerostar bell housing.
I'm unsure why he got it or his plans for it.
He's into SHO's but has no rwd project.
I'm almost certain I could obtain this needed item from him.
