93 Street Splash

I can finally say it's "done" as far as driveability. I got the frame straightened last week and have been waiting on weather to snap some good pics.

I've still got a few things left to do, like fog/driving lights and a stereo, but the hard stuff is over.

The wheels are ok, they give a "dragster" look I think, which is a different than most, so they're cool.

From a picture stand point though I would have to say black the tires before you take a pic. It'll help make a the tires blend into the truck a little better, and make the rims pop out. That way you get the bang for you buck with those expensive rims.

I usually do, but I was at work and this photo-op just kinda fell in my lap. I was lucky to even have my camera. I need to go get some more tire dressing anyway. The crap I got now does everything wrong: It's too shiny (I like satin) and all slings off even if I wipe it down and let it dry for a couple hours. I think the longest I've seen it last is like 2 days.

I remember seeing your build thread a while back, but i lost track of it and hadnt realised you were done already.

i just cant say enough good things about how this project turned out. the paint is perfect. pinstripping is perfect. emblems, perfect. rims, perfect. tire size, perfect. ride height, perfect.

only thing it "needs" is something surprising under the hood (not your typical small block swap either...something to make it earn that GT badge)

If it ever gets replaced as a daily, and I keep it, it will get the other 2 cylinders stuffed under the hood. I don't really want to do the standard 5.0 swap, I'm just not one to follow the "standard". I've considered building a beastly 302 with the new ford racing boss block, or even a 347. Because my whole family was raised with bowties (grandpa was a GM dealer, dad's first truck was 56 chev, I bought a 55 when I was 13), I also think about stuffing a chevy 350/350 combo in there because they're cheap and I have a near-endless supply of them. All I know for sure is that if I still have it and no longer need it as a daily, its gonna get really fast.

v8 swaps are nice and all...but they are just far too common for me. even the 350 swap has been done a number of times.

i was thinking something along the lines of working over the 3.0 and maybe boosting it. a 2.3 turbo swap would work, get you v-8 power, and get better mileage than it does now...but even that swap is getting pretty common. maybe something way out there like a 2.5 DOHC v-6 from a contour...those can be made to push 200HP pretty easily. or maybe a duratec 3.0 from a taurus/escape. they are really common and make 200HP stock. thatd get you into the low 14's in the 1/4 mile. its been talked about but never done.

IMO, i would have something sudo-fast thats really unique than something thats all-too-common but hauls ass.

if you go the small block chevy route...you should ditch the GT emblems and stick some "SS" emblems on it.

i agree with wicked sludge, go a unique route. If you have your heart set on a v8 put a flatty in it with an over head valve conversion kit on it. wanna talk unique. Some of the original conversion kits where the first true hemi heads you could get for a car.

yo dude i got a 93' splash ive been working on for the last 2 years thats pretty much done too. i havn't gotten around to pics yet, but di the cowel hood, 4 inch DJM drop, 3 inch Gibson exhaust, couple of procar racing seats, black carpeting, and 18inch wheels with some nice Z rated tires. they are so much fun to drive around, yours looks nice and im glad to see another splash kept nice!!!
