Aftermarket trailer hitch refinishing question

My ball-greasing habits are random. However, in the Superduty, the drawbar is almost always in the hitch, just to make that 500ft long truck an extra 8" longer. "Be all you can be." :taunt:
I would love to see you put a 4' long extension on that hitch, just because. 😈

I have one of those, they suck to tow with... not to mention sketchy when you have a vehicle on a trailer on one! Even the 20" extension on my F350 looks silly once the camper is off...

That reminds me of the 97 2.5 Wrangler I saw at work with an adapter from the 1 1/4" receiver to 2" to use the largest cargo platform they could find, then proceeded to put a 4ft tall toolbox full of tools on it. The back of the platform was 2" off the asphalt. He lived 1/4 mile from work but still.

Needs rear casters. Then, everything's šŸ‘ŒšŸ»

I don't have a picture of it on the truck without the camper where it looks really silly... I made a DIY super hitch but added another step where it has a crossmember forward with a pin to take some of the side to side out which I think helps a lot... with that long janky hitch I had chains going from that bolt in the back to the bumper to take out more of the side to side... Now I have that setup shortened with a bought receiver extension that's only like 20" and it works much better even with no lateral chains. FWIW I didn't use that 90A welder to make the whole thing, I probably tacked it together with that and I know I used the stick welder with 1/8" 6011...

Here's a picture of one camping trip with that 4' extension and 11' camper:

But I did take the '90 Ranger on a 2 axle 14' trailer on a trip or two... and boy that space looks different now with the shop there! The fir trees are gone too...

I don't generally tow light, the old 7.3L doesn't usually like me:

I did find a picture of the current hitch build with the ball mount for the boat:

If you're wondering why the lower tube doesn't go back further, I shortened it for the old S&S in the second picture, the new camper needed like 4" longer...

Just realizing how much the plants have changed since these pictures, holy cow... the roses in the second picture are now like 8' tall, at least the one closest to the camper...
