What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I looked at her sitting in my driveway and almost teared up at the fact that she is down for a long while. Hopefully I am able to find a 1.9TDI quickly and begin the conversion. So far every thing is pointing towards blown piston rings and if I'm going to go that far with the engine, I just would rather do the swap.

Got quite deep into my suspension rebuild today. The passenger side engine mount was an interesting task, and while I ran into an annoyance with the right rear LCA bolt hitting what looks like a catalytic converter, I got past that. Nothing like the complications a BMW-powered MINI Cooper S brings to the garage. Unfortunately the LCA's I bought turned out to be the wrong version, and I'll have to return those. That didn't stop this weekend's project, but it did slow down how soon I can get tires and an alignment...

Oh man, we loved both our mini cooper s.

We had an 04 and an 05. The 04 was a stick and the 05 was an auto and both were so much fun. Those were prince george engines? I cant remember if that is right thouhh

I believe that's correct. N-series, Pugeot engines. The earlier MINIs were less powerful but  way more nimble on their feet than the fully BMW model with the B-series engines. My '16 has 208 HP and 198 ft. lbs. of torque, but is also the heaviest of the MINIs outside of the Cooper SE.

Maybe you should be doing a build thread?

How big was that 208 hp engine?

Makes me laugh these days. The 460/7.5L in my 5,000lb ‘78 Mark V rolled out of the showroom with 210 hp, woo hoo, choked to death by the emissions controls of the day. Maybe I should find a Mini engine and put it in there. Might not have the same torque as those pasta pan pistons give me now though.

EDIT: or maybe I should rig a couple of them in there…

It's a 2.0 turbo. The B46 that came in the MINI is the little brother of the B48 that is available in the Toyota Supra/BMW Z4 twins, which could be tuned to much more.

It is amazing how engines have advanced, and the amount of sheetmetal a couple horsepower can move around.

Maybe I could throw in three of them. That would still be 6 L versus 7.4, and would give me 600 hp, huh?
