hey everyone. as for title i plan on doing extreme audio SPL build in this truck. its a 2 door, has anyone done anything like this yet? i need to do measurements but i'd like to squeeze 6 15s in the bed.
open discussion, ill probably update this thread as i go on. Ill be working on the engine part of things, need to finish ignition, then add high output alternator, will be updating the thread.

Sounds like a fun project. Please take lots of pictures!

One of my first jobs out of school in the early 90s was at a local shop called Electronic Express. I worked in the install department. We did a couple of snug top bed systems. Our " engineer/ designer" never went all one size sub. He always said that 15s were to slow for rock and 10s didn't hit deep enough for rap. So he would alway do both on big systems. Im sure speakers and audio equipment have come a long way since then. My friend Anthony down in Georgia works for a company that builds competition systems. He's got an Astro Van thats packed. They trailer it because theyblow the glass out at every show. Haha. I'll be excited to see what you come up with.

That's very logical sounding. Probably the reason why coaxial speakers and the towers with 4-6 different sizes from the home stereo market are a thing.

yeah its a new era, lots of new tech and patents out there with audio related equipment. I will say this from experience, if a shop says "you need 15s for x type of music" or "8s are more punchy and 15s get deeper" , go to a different one, its all about box tuning. This myth of x subwoofer will play deeper or lower has already been debunked lol. Its not about if they can or cant play x frequency, but how well said speaker can play it.

def going to get the ranger all tidy up before i do any audio related things but while im working on the truck ill dabble in getting a 300A alternator installed and try to make a guide for it.

will be taking measurements of the doors also so i can build some custom door panels, perhaps with 4 8s and a tweeter or two per door.

coaxials are just a simple and easiest way to get a full range output frequency out of one speaker. when you start messing with 2 way and 3 way passive or active systems you gain more tuning fidelity which will lead to better sound quality overall, compared to coaxial speakers. its really all about your end goals really as far as sound goes. some people like more punch vs sharpness vs balanced etc.
