Ford Ranger shines in 2025

The newer Rangers are just too big for me to considered them Rangers. They are the size of late 90's early 00's F150s. Hell even the Mavericks are bigger than my Ranger.
I don't have any first hand experience with the Maverick to say yes or no but I do with the 2019+ Rangers.

What you say is true and not at the same time. After shoehorning the 2011 Ranger and the 2019 into my small garage, there is a difference but it is not a huge one (about 6" longer). I can walk around the front, or the rear of the 2011 (I have to choose one or the other) with the problem. It is a bit tight but there is no side stepping. With the 2019, I have to side step. The width of the 2019 is a bit larger for sure but it is not a massive difference. The rest is optical illusion because of the high belt line and tall bed sides.

Driving experience wise, there is no perceptible difference to me as far as parking, navigating through parking lots, traffic, and on trails. Granted, I've driven a lot of vehicles from tandem passenger buses to tiny two door Chevy Sprints, so it is possible that I'm just so used to automatically adjusting that I don't even notice it anymore.

A far as comparing the 2019 to an earlier F150, you are probably right. With the way vehicles have been plus sized over the years, I would not be the least bit surprised if the 2019+ Rangers are pretty much the same size.

I think it's mostly the height of them that catches my eye more than anything. The majority of them I see look like the back end needs to drop like 6 inches to level them out.

They do sit higher and the rake is definitely more. Probably because of the increased bed loads and towing capacity.

so people need to load them beds or get mavericks.

sort of. mavericks are definitely ranger sized, but the new ranger is a mid size...they seem as big as a 150 until you back to back them.

they are not as big as 90s 150s though.

Yeah, when I was shopping for Rangers I was kind of disappointed. They didn't really feel much wider on the inside than my Ranger, the entire cabin was similar in size to my wife's '08 Edge from the back of the rear seats forward... with rear facing car seats that wasn't exactly a deal maker.

I had a '02 F-150 at the time, cab was much wider than a Ranger and really don't know if the supercab was much shorter than the Ranger's Supercrew.

I love the size of my 2021 Ranger. It's the perfect size to me, and I've had everything from Rangers to F-350's and Excursion. I wish Ford sold the Everest here.

i do like the ranger. but not the bed. too tall too short.

so it would get hacked up for a real bed

. Granted, I've driven a lot of vehicles from tandem passenger buses to tiny two door Chevy Sprints,

I had an ‘85 Chevy Sprint 4 door that we swapped an 87 Sprint Turbo motor in. Just about doubled the HP. It didn’t make it fast, it was just less slow.

@JohnnyO was smart when he bought the SuperCab and got the longer bed. It hasn't stopped me from buying lumber, plywood and drywall though. This is also the only Ranger that I've comfortably towed anything with.

I basically took half my house down to the studs and rebuilt it using only my Ranger. I probably had to make 1- 2 extra trips to Lowes since I “only” have a 5’ bed. You can’t quite fit as many cabinets in the short bed.

I will admit that I’ve been looking for a 6’ bed and thinking about stretching the frame to build a crew cab long bed Ranger.

yup. 14 inches is what i figure the stretch will be.

and a bed you can use with lower sides....instead of whatever that abortion they came up with.

I had a bed extender in the Sport Trac I had before, the bed is about the same size as the Ranger 4-door.
The bed extender made the short bed tolerable. It's optional in the new Rangers. If I get a new one I would definitely get the extender. For me personally, my kids are grown and gone now and I just don't need a full back seat.

The ghost of long-ago member DaveR, who still sends me a Christmas card every year.
Gen 2 2wd Supercab long bed with a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe motor and a transfer case so he had low range to pull his boat out of the lake. Been to his house in NY. DaveR had a lot of sh*t.
