Im 34 years young witth mild autism and i got a can of touch up paint that is the same silver as the exterior on my ranger. The paint is lifting off a little and my dad said its better maybe to not use clear coat for that situation. My Dad did the respray on my ranger.

do you drive them? they look like they have been sitting for quite some time

I drive my 1993 ford f-150 once a week usually over to my uncle marks place to visit my dads brother. And my ranger i will drive for maybe 5 feet back and forth for like 5 times but i haven't drove my ranger on the road for maybe 2-3 months. My Dads brother who i was named after was a firefighter back in the mid to late 70's he passed away from a gyrocopter accident in 1978 at 200 feet when he was 25 years old he passed away 13 years before i was born.

its not good to let a vehicle sit like that, at least take it out and put at least 10-15 miles on it to get it up to operating temp and get the fluids moving

Yesterday i started and idled my ranger for 15 minutes while i turned on all my lights and i put my ranger into 4wd. I try to start and idle my ranger for 15 minutes every 2 weeks.

that is also not a good habit to do. it needs to be driven. Heck since i had mine inspected back in February i put about 3,000 miles on it. Its parked for now until the road salt is gone, once that is ill go back to driving it regularly

Why is it not good to let my ranger sit like that. I let my ranger get into its normal temperature range every time i start and idle my ranger so all the engine parts can get used the way they are suppose to.

but the transmission, transfer case and the rest of the drive line never has a chance to warm up and be exercised. Excessive idling is not good for an engine either

Why is that not a good habit of letting my ranger idle for 15 minutes other times only 10 minutes. I would drive my ranger but my dad would need to move his 2 cars just for me to take my ranger out. Here in puyallup washington they don't salt the roads. Its good i move my ranger back and forth for a total of 30 feet some weeks.

a few people here on the ranger station have mentioned at least every 2 weeks its good to at least idle my ranger for 15 minutes.
