I got a 1994 yesterday to buddy up with my 06 3.0! It needs work as it currently doesnt run. Id like an opinion on the frame though, for the most part it looks like surface rust but the worst of it is by the gas tank. I will be doing a full strip on the frame and paint with por-15 and coat to make sure it is good for years to come. I was a bit concerned that the flake rust by the tank would require a bit more extensive repair so ill post some photos, i dont plan on putting this one through as much hell as my 3.0, no heavy towing. Any advice asides grind prep and coat?

Florida is very kind to frames. From your images it really doesn't look bad at all.
I'm up in Michigan so most of our frames look like crap. I was fortunate enough to have had mine Zeibarted (rustproofed) so mine is still kinda ok.
What's the rest of it look like?

I'm no expert, so check back and see what others have to say.

Its really clean, only paint chip us on the roof, cant find evidence of any metal patches or bondo.

Looks nice. Never seen one with the lower tu-tone. Doesn't mean they don't exist though.

EDIT: Just looked thru the 94 Ranger catalog and it shows a Tu-Tone

See my edit...

Alrighty, i washed up the frame really good because this thing had sat for a year, seems most of the build up by the gas tank turned out to be alot of dirt, some rust still but i flushed the area out pretty good with a pressurized garden hose nozzle so it can at least breathe and not collect moisture from all the dirt. This baby looks alot better when i cleaned it up. I take good care of my truck frames even though i live in florida and away from the beach, its probably the area on the vehicle i pay most attention to when washing. Im exited to work on it and see it on the road sometime in the future.
