Thanks for checking out my post. Im stuck and I dont know what to do to adjust the motors position, due to what seems to be a sensor preventing any change in height.

The current mounts (not sure which type, came with the truck) Seem to position the motor to high, and with the trans mounted on the cross member - theres a steep angle.

I would like to lower the motors position by perhaps switching to other mounts listed in the forums, but there is a sensor that would hit the power steering component if I were to lower the motor any futher.

Here are some pics of what im trying to describe

Is the height and angle ok & im just over thinking it? Can I swap out that sensor with another one or modify its agle.

You could probably remove the oil pressure sender and that extender and just simply screw the oil pressure sender right into the block. That's how my '87 5.0L is, but the sender is a lot smaller.

The smaller one is just a switch, the bigger one actually shows a variance.

I second losing the extension.

lose the ext. and sending unit ,get a manual gauge.

I would put a "T" in it and do both if possible, it is disheartning (no matter how many times you tell yourself it isn't for real) to see the stock oil pressure gauge pegged into the red.

Mine doesn't even work.

I went from one that worked for 7 years to one that doesn't work now, it still catches me in a state of panic every now and then until I check the mechanical one.

One of these days I am going to get it to work again.

Looks to me like the engine is too far forward as well. Just my .02 though.

Those flat plate engine mounts position the engine waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high in the chassis. Search for "Mustang convertible mounts" and start over.

Dear OP, that is where my engine is sitting right now and my hood closes no-problem, but, I would like to lower it. To do that I need to reposition my power steering PUMP, because the car braket I have is Way to low.

Thanks for the all the input!

I thought there was to much height between the front crossmember and the oilpan. The motor is way high. Changing the mounts dont bother me one bit, and yes I was going to go with the vert mounts.

As far as being to forward, it does seem like it can go back a bit. The current funky mounts do allow for 1 - 1 1/2 inch movement back and fourth via the plate (not via crossmember being notched) which I thought was cool. But from the many pics I've seen with the vert mounts, the motor seems to sit just fine on those.

I will change out the sensor, plus re-arrange it.

All good tips - bitchin

Hm.. could you possibly raise the back to be level, and purchase a cowl hood for clearance?

I've tried, liftting the trans enough literrally lifted the truck haha

With the current mounts, raising the transmission enough to level out with the motors current position would force it to push up against the cab.

Please help me find these vertical mustang mounts as well, I would like my engine lower once I find a different power steering bracket.

They are for a convertable Mustang (with a fabric top that goes up and down :D)

They should be available at just about any parts store. :icon_thumby:
