What can i swap into a 01 mazda b3000?

I was wondering what engines i could swap into a 2001 mazda b3000? Would a 92 explorer engine and transmission fit?

Short answer...Yes

Long answer- those older engines use older emissions systems, So not only would you have to make it work (most likely using a harness from the 92), but you would have to try and get it to pass emissions wherever you are from.... and it may NOT pass visual inspection even if you don't have a smog test.

Because everything on the 01 is computer controlled in some way/shape/form it would probably be more trouble than it is worth.

+1 Even though the 3.0 is no barn burner, they are very sturdy engines that last. Is your motor shot? The only thing I'd suggest if you're hell bent on doing this swap is to look for an 01 or later 4.0 SOHC and computer. Even then, it may not pass the emissions test regulations. Check with the State laws regarding this.

Yea the motor in the mazda that I'm looking at is no good. So yall are basically saying that the 01 is just not a great truck to swap into for various reasons.

You could get a '99-'01 Explorer with the 5.0 and swap that in. Should be no different than doing a regular Ranger. This is the V8 forum, why ask about a 4.0?
