What did YOU do today?

Yeah, I thought about the Dorman stuff, @Uncle Gump did that route. I went to AN because I wanted to use it for more than just fuel. JIC matches AN and is cheaper, but not all of the adapters and stuff are available in anything but AN. So I guess it all depends on what you’re trying to achieve.

I’ve been meaning to do it and haven’t, but I thought about rigging up something to carry some fiberglass driveway markers or a can of upside-down paint to mark where stuff sticks up in my yard so I can go back after mowing and deal with rocks, stumps and roots. Seems like no matter how hard I try searching for that stuff after mowing, I have trouble finding it all
I used those JIC fittings once to repair a transmission cooler line in a 1994 Buick Riviera great stuff 10/10 would recommend. And until the lines rot completely. the customer won't be having any further issues with the craptastic fittings GM uses.

Yeah only problem is I want something better than what I have on it that will be protected better cause where the fuel line ruptured it was behind the high pressure fuel pump where the line had rubbed on the bracket and so I'm either going to make steel lines for it or do the AN hoses idk yet I'm just getting options together cause either way I have the tools and skills needed to fix it either way.
I wouldn’t do steel. My 92 I didn’t have the money to buy stuff to fix the leaking fuel line. I refused to use steel because of the rust issues here. I had some 3/8” aluminum line because I use that for making transmission cooler lines and stuff. I also had some 3/8” fuel injection line and hose clamps on hand, so I bent up a piece of aluminum to make most of the run and bulged the ends. Rubber line for the connection to the pump and to the filter. Worked great even though it’s not a recommended fix.

Yeah unfortunately I live in Virginia and as a state car inspector I've gotta do things by the book otherwise it's not just my car that gets a rejection... State cops love to take drivers licenses away for every little thing when your an inspector and that's my living... and I can't inspect my own vehicle sadly.

Yeah, that’s a little ridiculous.

The aluminum line I get from Summit and I also use it with AN stuff. I just didn’t have the fittings on hand or money to get them at the time I did that. I’d use that, stainless or Ni-Copper for hard lines. I’m done with regular steel line, stuff rots too fast.

PA won’t let you inspect your own car either. My buddy’s daughter is talking about getting an inspection license though, lol. But we have a good relationship with a local mechanic. He won’t let stuff slide that shouldn’t, but if he finds a problem, he lets us run it down the alley to my buddies garage and fix it before bringing it back for the sticker at no extra charge. Usually they’re supposed to charge for a failed inspection instead of letting you fix it, but that’s not a law. At least not yet, lol.

In my case I could see EXACTLY where the mower went from mowing perfectly to having a stripe down the center :). I know what you mean though, my yard is pretty straight forward though where I can mow with the riding mower, there's a couple roots sticking up that I need to put some dirt around to build up though...

Yeah, a few companies have atype r or r line or something with an r but the raptor high performance version is a raptor r. Since my teuck is just a ranger with a tune, its a ranger r

r you kidding me?

I made it up, the ranger r

it being Memorial Day, I made the hour drive down to the Fort Logan National Cemetery. I went late to be sure the crowds were gone.

I go to set on the sidewalk for a time beside the wife's columbarium niche. I know she's not there, only ashes but I feel close to her anyway. I just lost her to the cancer last January so am still new at this.

I often find others there doing the same. For those who know, the grief never ends for those we loved so deeply.

Took apart my 3-year old front load samsung washer, it had started vibrating violently & was leaking. Turns out they use counter weights inside on the outside of the drum, plastic filled with concrete. Well a few bolts loosened, one broke and this alignment pin thats part of the outer drum broke off. (hence the water leak) Its just 9 months outside of the warranty. “technically “ it could be fixed. For about as much as another. I wondered why it was so rediculously heavy. Damn junk. spent half the day researching. Still dont know what to get, not another samsung though.

Outside of the ceremonies and parade today, I cleaned, inspected, and repacked the left side bearings on the trailer. The bearings are in perfect shape and I installed the axle nut as instructed in the owner's manual. The required installation is to tighten the nut smugly. I was quite smug when I tightened it.

EDIT: While I had everything apart and cleaned, I wrote down the bearing numbers. I was pleasantly surprised they were marked with a standard bearing number and it is a common bearing. I was expecting some proprietary number that I would have to do an extensive internet search to find a regular bearing number, if one existed.

When I bought my house in '14 I went to a used appliance store and bought an older Amana refrigerator and a matched set of Roper washer/drier (made by whirlpool, top load washer and front load drier), I think all 3 ran me $800, been money well spent, the old stuff is better than the new stuff... eventually I ran into an issue with the drier where the motor wouldn't always start but found an identical Roper for $15... works great :)

Today I went to 2 junk yards, 40% off weekend... didn't get too involved but I grabbed some windshield trim for my '90, one of the two tail light housings I need for the '92 I need to fix (all drivelines that would have fit it were dented to heck... probably should have gotten the one piece to retube...). Ended up with 3 D35 spindles with rotors in great shape and two manual hubs with lock nuts... Took the drivers side axle shaft since I was there... also found a gasser dash bezel thing for my '97 F350 that I'll need to modify but it's pristine! Grabbed a pair of seats for my mom's Fiesta, looking at the bottom of the foam on them I think they have the same issue but for $60 for the pair I am not going to complain, we'll get her fixed up (she has the manual version, it's a very economical reliable vehicle unlike the automatic versions)

My ex bought a front load washer, I’m not sure what brand, a few years before she was my ex. The dryer was a hand me down from her parents, so it was sentimental to her, so it stayed. I’ve replaced the belt a couple times and a heater element, but other than that, it ran like a top. Both jobs took me a whopping 30 or 40 minutes.

About a year after we got divorced, the washer started vibrating and leaking. 5-years old? From the rental real estate we own, I had a independent appliance repair guy, a family, we used for two generations, point being we know the guy personally, he’s not just a service guy we use. When I called him up for the repair, he told me I was nuts if I repaired it. He said it would cost more than replacing it with a new top loader. He pointed out that water flows downhill, so you never want an appliance that holds water that opens from the side. Also, the front loaders are barely held in place in the front by whatever rollers, and the entire strain is on the shaft/seal that goes out horizontal in the back. And again, if you think of the weight of the water, it’s always out of balance.

Again, I was a bachelor at the time. I went to a used appliance store in a lower economic place in town, a really nice looking well kept place, and I bought a fairly basic washer for $165 that was guaranteed for a year. I don’t remember what brand, and it was old when I got it. Never had to put another nickel into it. I hope I don’t jinx myself with the story, that was 11 years ago.

The front loaders are a fad, they look cool, and everybody wants to buy one to keep up with the Joneses or the neighbors. The top loaders just makes sense, and the engineering in me always says “function over form.“

do your laundry at your neighbors for a few days, and go on craigslist and buy a used top loader!

As always, my two cents, hope it helps.

Went out to eat with my ma for dinner, and ran into an old friend I haven't seen since highschool while we were eating.

Enjoyed enough bourbon during dinner that when I got home to feed the dog.. I ended up dumping his kibble into his water dish instead of the food dish lol.

He seemed a little weirded out and didn't seem to want to eat it.. so I threw some more into his actual food dish... Ate it right up of course.. and then Immideately drank/ate the entire contents of his water bowl 😂 fatty.
