What did YOU do today?

With the broken garage door spring and the cold weather, I’ve been focusing on inside projects. When I was beat up and sick, I moved my day-to-day business into the master bedroom alcove in a roll top desk. Like the shed of miracles, when I finished something, I just set the papers down. I haven’t been able to roll the top down in years…

The physical therapy has done wonders with my mobility, and of course, Lincoln has done wonders with my sanity. So, working about an hour on and an hour off, I’ve been working at cleaning up the upstairs desk, which will lead to cleaning up my downstairs office and moving back into there.

I tend to save everything, but any files that are seven years older or older, I can get rid of legally. So I’m tossing most of them, and only saving the ones that it makes sense to save.

I touched up the Chinese tea box I mentioned a while ago, and I put some file cabinet racks inside of it. The older files that I keep will go inside, and that tea box will go underneath the front window, which will increase Lincoln’s universe by about 50%.

The new computer is computing, and the new printer is printing. I’m sure a few of you can empathize that I’m almost giddy with glee!

I finished the day cracking the seal on a bottle of Cherry Kijafa. Anybody know what that is and why I like it?

And I stumbled upon “Cuban chrome“ on the Motortrend channel. Guys doing everything with nothing down there. Reminds me of the Road Ranger and Missing Linc fabrication, and a few of you guys who make great trucks out of used parts and such. Check it out.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to work dawn til dusk and a few hours later. Good stuff.

Made a big step in the shop today, wasn't planning on finishing it but my brother came over and after like 5 hours we built a 32" deep by 12' wide shelf with 4 shelves with 16" spacing for HDX totes which VERY conveniently lined up with the gerts... I had to take out some horizontal supports on the side of the end truss but the shelf is more structural than the 2x6 nailed to the bottom plate of the truss anyway... It's a heck of a shelving unit for like $200 worth of 2x4's and 1/2" plywood...

Nearly finished getting all of my stuff out of my old house and moved into my new one, a load or two to go, and it'll all be done. Then comes the organizing, I should be done that by next year...

Dog was going crazy earlier, found out I have another possum visiting. Bigger one than last weekend, maybe the momma. Set out a trap, will relocate it. Normally Id let them be but need to look out for my chickens. Which by the way are starting to lay again. Have 15 but have only getting 3 eggs at best. started getting 4 and today got 6. Ive heard eggs are going up again, no time to be losing egg layers.

check DNR rules on nuisance animals.
opossum can't be relocated.

My thought was relocating it to the wildlife area about 7 miles from me, but like most possums Ive not seen it back a 2nd night. Raccoons however get “relocated “ to a fencerow, feet up. After a “swim”. 😉

Leave everything you don’t need right away in the living room. Sooner or later you’ll get tired of looking at the pile of crap and put it away.

If you put everything you don’t need right away in a spare room or basement or something, it’ll stay there.

So far I've put a few things on my new shelf and done some general cleaning as well as rearranging vehicles so I could move the new air compressor to it's new home... after like 2 weeks of sitting since the one and only time I've cycled it with the new check valve it's still sitting at 140psi! I'd call that a win! I still have to get power to the shed for it and trench to the shop to get the air to the shop... that's a spring/summer project, I have enough lined up for the mean time...

Now I'm working on fixing the generators I bartered for loft materials, I thought it had a pullstart bolt broke off but it was just a spider nest and was just missing a bolt so win! Now I just need to fix the pull start housing from the broken bolt hole then rebuild the carb and hope the crankcase leak is just a loose bolt or something...

Thats what I've been doing, all the stuff that needs going through gets sorted and goes to it's home, I've gotten most of the house stuff roughly where it's gonna live, only a couple boxes left. I've moved from a mobile home with no other storage than a small bedroom and smallish enclosed porch to a house with a full basement, decent sized garage, and a breezeway. All of my tools and such were just kind of everywhere so that's been the bulk of the sorting out. Today was a bit warmer so I did some sorting in the garage as well, now that all of that can be in one place (no more mig welder in the living room, etc, haha)

Got another pic from our track photographer yesterday. He apologized for cutting off the back end but it's still a cool action pic. That's not too far off the starting line since the front bumper of that burger van is right in line with the stage beam.

It was upper 50s and beautiful today, but I was stuck at the desk working. I had the TV on in the background. And before I go on, this is not a political statement.

I’ve had some gals I know tell me that Pete Hegseth, the new secretary of defense, is hot. I agree he’s a good looking guy and a shining example of what we probably want to see in fighting men.

Kristi Noem was just cleared and sworn in to as secretary of homeland security.. She got up at 2 AM, and road with the ice agents to make illegal migrant arrests in New York. BTW, she looks a lot like sweet pea, and believe it or not, she is a grandma too.

Well, she put on one of those ice agent bulletproof vests, and her brown hair was wavy all the way down to her waist line, tight jeans, and she had one of the little official ball caps on too. Now, SHE WAS HOT!

So, I vote Pete, and Kristi for king and queen of the cabinet for the spring dance…

What does cost to build a shop like that? I'm envious.
The kit was $16k and change then there was concrete and getting power hooked up, I think I'm into it around $30k if you don't count little things... I've farmed out the electrical (just getting the new meter ran and the shop box in, I wired it and dug the trenches) and concrete and gutters but other than that it's just me and some friends for some of it...

Bought my first bottle of tums.

Does this mean im officially old now?

Or did that start with the receding hairline, back pain, ear hair, and general discontent towards the younger generations?

Tums are great though.. really... They enable my terrible diet SPECTACULARLY!

Try a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water. Chug it down, and within a minute or so you'll let out some of the most foul burps you've ever had, and you'll feel better. Not good if you need to observe a low sodium diet though. It works way way better for me than Tums.

It was snowing again last night and the dog was hyper so I took him out in the yard with the laser pointer. He got in a good running with the added bonus of me shaking because like an idiot I was out there in PJ's and a coat freezing and he loved the dot shaking like crazy from me shivering.

Sadly I didn't think to grab my phone for some video of it till I was out there and him in the yard. In my defence who thinks "hey I should grab my phone to let the dog out.".
