I got a 08 4liter 4x4 5speed ranger super cab. But cab has been in an accident. I’ve been doing a lot of research about cab swaps and bolting up isn’t a problem it’s the wireing. Im reading is the worry. Some people are saying that any harness will work from 03 to 11 but others are saying there 09 cab won’t work on a 2007 because of said harness. I was just wondering if I had to find the exact same year and cab that came off of the same truck or could I atleast get away with finding an old 4liter auto cab somewheres?
Any help would be awesome as I love to learn more about these trucks and partly new to them.

Ford changed wiring all the time and usually for no good reason... The body modules and instrument clusters should be most of the issue, if you kept the underhood wiring, engine computer and complete dashboard from your original you should be ok.

wiring aside, you do realize the VIN is attached to the cab so swapping the cab is also swapping the vin????

for the wires I would get diagrams for each year and compare circuits & connectors.

Yeah I know vin is in cab and that’s why I’m trying to find a cab with papers still but it’s a needle in a hay stack

Yeah that sounds like ford. I’m thank ful I came here for questions because I dive into it. And what would be the way to get around said interment clusters and such

And I would use the old harness but the only problem is that a farm tractor with 6foot pallet forks ran into passages side. And what are the odd that the forks crumpled the engine bay in on the harness side so truck won’t even start no more because the harness is in a couple pieces
