What did YOU do today?

Might be a little morbid in relation to political signs. I always felt the same way about people that put up memorials on the side of the road or at the edge of someone's property.

I get it, you brother died in a car crash, but in a day or two this is just going to look at like pile of trash on the side of the road.

Why don't you put it in your own yard where you can look at it and appreciate it.
I know of someone (one of Lisa’s friends) died in an accident. Instead of doing a roadside memorial, the family bought the totaled truck back from insurance and had friends and family sign the truck in paint marker and set it in their yard as a memorial. I think there was even talk of fixing it enough to be legally and safely driveable without removing any of the signatures

I'm moving north ASAP. Ditching this town of nearly 9k lunatics for one that barely has 1000.

Less people, less politics, next to nothing for taxes, no tourists.. and out of the most overbearing County in the state.

The American dream!
Although I understand this point of view, what about trying to get elected so you can do something about what you don’t like? That’s what those who try to force things on the rest of us do, why not return the favor for a change?

I’m about fed up with my township anymore. It also dawned on me recently that the township supervisors nearly always run unopposed here and they’re the ones that determine a lot of the stuff that affects me. Seems like it shouldn’t be too hard to have a real chance at being elected, so that’s my new plan, I’m gonna run for township supervisor.

Good luck. I used to work with someone who tried that. They found every excuse in the book to keep him off the ballot. Another that I know of now that has been trying has been running into all kinds of road blocks as well.

I'm not saying this to discourage you. Just be aware that if you aren't part of the "click", you are going to have a battle on your hands.

added lights to garage.

straightened up some stuff on thing that identifies as a ranger #1.....

figured out the hvac wiring on a fusion with young bob...

peened rear diff cover on ranger.....ran it hard enough it was dropping fluid drips.....peeled er somewhere out at LBL a bit..... weird it took this long to drip. seems good. we used to laugh all the time because my truck dont leak anything on the driveway and the brand new truck my wife drives was sloppering oil out of the front diff all over....still miss that truck.

The last two days I got a long way on my lean to project... I think I posted yesterday that I got the 4x6's cut to length and such which left me here:

Then today I started by replacing the rotten 4x4's under the west end of the shed that left it saggy so I jacked it up and replaced it with some treated 4x4's I had sitting around (cleaned up the yard some! those have only been "in stock" for like 6 years...), then my brother came over and helped with the rafters and perlins and such, it's pretty much ready for metal, I need to steal 2 pieces of his stash of the same metal (we got it from an auction at the same location like 6 years apart, it's the same conveniently), that left me here:

My bike did the Bluetooth drive mod like @ericbphoto's motorcycle did last spring... so tonight I replaced the chain.

It will be fun for the first time in decades having a bike I can ride around the campground rather than walking everywhere.

If someone put a political sign in my yard, regardless of whether I agree with it or not, it's getting yanked and trashed. As far as I'm concerned, property rights should prevail over legally placed signage, if placing of such signage has not been approved by the property owner. A piece of publicly owned property, that is legally accessible by the general public, is a different story but private property, that's trespassing and vandalism.

I 100% agree with you.

Maine is wierd.. obviously with the sign laws.. but also because we have laws about 'implied access'.. which again.. double edged sword.

Implied access more or less means that unless the property is posted, anyone is completely free to be there until they're asked to leave. This is nice up north.. we're free to wander around the woods wherever we please.. but that law is trash in the more populated parts of the state.

I'm unelectable lol. Probably even at a town/county level.

I wouldn't align myself with either popular party, and 'third party' people rarely find success.

I'm also not affluent enough..

I have thought about it though. If anything.. id try once I find my new town up north. The political landscape where I am now is already hopeless.. however.. id have a lot more chance of success up there.. keeping things the way they should be.

I lowered the front of the ranger to try and get the stance acceptable. I might have to lower some more but i need to drive around for a while to decide.

First pic is the rear just lowered, from last week. Second is front lowered two full turns on the torsion bolts. Third is two more full turns. Last pic is random pic of truck as it sits now

Ok, no pics till after work. Can't load them here. :(

Since it has been so rainy as of late, I finally broke down and scanned the stack of papers that have been sitting in a folder on my printer into the computer and made duplicate back ups of those scanned papers on a thumb drive and passport drive.

Today, I get to pretend I work for Enron and shred it all. If it is still raining after that, I need to update the booklet that tells a military member's significant other where everything is in case they need to find something while the service member is deployed.

Come to think of it. I need to make sure the legal paperwork, like Powers of Attorney and my Will are current and will last through the deployment as well... Too much crap to prepare and seemingly not enough time.

I don’t mind stirring the pot and having a battle…

If they turn this township into the next Cranberry, it will really be a fight to get elected because the fools that want that will be firmly entrenched at that point. Right now I have a few connections and I’m thinking I should use them to my benefit. There’s an unknown time limit on some of my connections, one is looking to fully retire and one is dealing with cancer. I think I have a chance now, but in a few years, maybe not so much, so I need to take a shot soon.

Lol, worth a try tho

I think local level is less about party, at least around me. When there’s rarely any choices other than the one person running, party affiliation means little I think. When you get to state level and above, then it starts getting difficult.

I’m not affluent. Not super well known either. But I think that’s all overcome-able on the local level. Like I said, when there’s only one person running, another person becomes a choice. One person running is not a choice.

Nice old Trek... back when they were made in the USA.

I kinda got swindled, guy said it was 3-4 years old... after intensive googling after the fact it is actually a '99 model. I think it was only like $150 though, it's in really nice shape.

Kind of funny, I haven't bought a new bike since high school and that one was about the same age as this one.

It's actually big enough for me though, it is the easiest riding bike I have ever ridden. Stupid light too, it's a shame they don't still make 820's with the aluminum frame.

I have a Trek 7000 from about '04... those old aluminum frames are virtually indestructible. Easy and cheap to get parts for and like you said, nice to ride. I've put well over 10k miles on mine and still ride it 3-4x a week. Swimming may be better exercise overall, but I'll take cycling 10 times out of 10 for enjoyment.
