TRS Event TRS 25th Anniversary Fall Adventure - Land Between The Lakes - September 5th – 8th, 2024

I don't even remember what you've done to it. I remember it when it had a 5.0 and ARB air lockers

If I had even half of the knowledge in Bobby's head...

Wow! Just wow!

You know, I got into the campground with Lisa this year and we took a little look around and said some hellos and I looked at Lisa and said “I’m surprised @bobbywalter isn’t here, really hope he makes it.” Shortly after that I saw the familiar beast roll in and I’m not gonna lie, I got a big grin seeing that.

@Jim Oaks

Whenever you get a chance, could I get my 25th anniversary badge on the forum here? I didn’t see it as an option in my settings on here so I’m guessing you have to bestow that honor

to help visualize what i mentioned earlier.....

one of the good things about a mechanical old pos diesel swap.....i can rebuild my injectors for under a 100 bux.....8 of them.....ALL EIGHT OF THEM FOR UNDER 100 BUX..... and re glowplug it for 60 bux or so. very cost effective engine if you can live with its lower power output. injector pumps 360-560.... just great potential.

the reason for the engine swap was it was costing me 95 dollars one way to go to work back in 2008....first gas hit at 550 per gallon. and i had a 6.5 diesel engine for free and unlimited free fuel stock of one form or another..... combine that with 50-70k miles just to go to work....and well....thats what happened.

these are unmodeded injectors on alternate fuels......this is what vegetable oil and w85 will do to n/a diesels quickly.....and you WILL be walking if this happens....

this is what they are supposed to look like.

this is modified. i worked through many variations to figure out the best scenario for ffp and roll off burn and cylinder psi/heat to keep smoke, co2 and nox down.

she is as clean running as she can be and able to run an array of fuel stocks.

so that is just one modification.....

it changed my life, and allowed me to daily drive my beast as cost effectively as a ford escort.....

would 1000000000 percent do it again and live with the low power stinky clattering rust bucket...

What fuel do you run most of the time? Or is it just a mix of diesel and whatever else waste oil you have around the shop.

It's hard to believe it's been diesel swapped that long.

I think @97RangerXLT got one of the light bars. Honestly can’t think of who got the other things.

Oh, and I went ahead and filled in what I got, lol

Did Noah win a winch kit?

currently it runs mostly on pump diesel. it has to get over 4.50 gallon to be time/cost effective for my current use scenario.

i sold my old setup for filtering and heating because i did not want to move it all when i moved back home to detroit.

my big centrifuge was the most expensive thing but you dont need that for good known hydraulic/trans fluids/wmo....and i just run the spinner 2 bypass centrifuges using a big block chevy oil pump on a small electric motor. only because i am fortunate enough to have a shop truck. if i was 24/7 with the ranger like i used to be then i would have my normal setup and be reporting federally over 300 gallons per 1/4. i do not mind paying taxes for the roads at all.... even the shitty ones. this may change if young bob gets employment farther away and needs to travel distance to work.

if my wife would not have come down, i would have just drove the ranger and maybe towed some bikes and tires. while it has cruise control....it does not and has never had AC. and i am getting older..... AC is GOING to be a thing one way or the other. but she would not be comfortable at all in the truck in the heat.....whereas i would drive it to the moon with a smile.

I’m not sure, but I was tempted to ask if he won something like that
I seem to remember he did. And I thought he mentioned “now I really have motivation to buy a winch” or something along those lines.

I could be completely wrong.

The fella with the green std cab SAS won the winch accessory kit. I remember him saying he gets stuck all the time and new motivation to buy a winch.

I believe Noah won the other LMC gift card.

3 different engines at that....4 transmissions....and i think 5 transfer cases.....you would think i would learn to leave the skidplate on.
