What did YOU do today?

@Rick W what size vacuum pump is that? When we were doing the AC in my 99 we tried the auto parts store rental first, but it wouldn't pull enough vacuum. After much reading I opted to purchase the 3 CFM two stage pump from HF. Worked perfect. Not sure if the 2 CFM single stage that they offered would have done the job. The rental pump was a 1.8 CFM single stage and looked new, but who knows how it had been previously used.

The only other thing I could recommend for your project would be a small digital scale for weighing the freon. I picked up one from walmart. Allowed for weighing the cans before and after to track how much we added. Would have been good to have for measuring the PAG oil too, but dad had already done that part before I had gotten the scale.

Don't suppose anyone's over here in Moncton for the Atlantic Nationals this weekend? I'll be going down to the street party tonight. I'll post a few pics if anyone's interested.
I have to say this has become a pretty amazing event, the city is full of thousands of all types of interesting cars from all over for 5 solid days. Good times for the car guys.

No idea what that one is about. I'm pretty sure I'm speaking for everyone here when I say, we always like looking at pics if you have them to share.

What’s a Moncton?

What’s a Moncton?
It's old Mi'kmaq for "usually boring" 😀

Nah, I kid, it's a fine place to live.

Atlantic Nationals are a big drive-in car show/festival/Street party with food, music etc. I don't know how many people come in for it but it's in the thousands. You're required to drive the car in too, no trailer Queens, so the streets are crawling with cool cars, trucks, bikes.

Went to a Waterpark in Moncton once lol. Took a day trip over there when we were vacationing at some 'state park' or whatever Canada calls them that was up the road aways.. forget the Campground. All I remember is it was on top of some whoppin assed hill.

I think they call it Crown Land.

It's time for poutine boys. Yum.

We do have Crown lands, those are sort of publicly owned land (except they're owned by the King) that you can hunt and fish on etc. I think he probably meant the Provincial parks which indeed are pretty much the same as State parks.

That would be Magnetic Hill... the water park is supposed to be good, I've never been. I could use it today though as it's about 95F and 90% humidity. Might as well be Orlando.

It's ALWAYS time for poutine. ;)

Anyone out there remember Pedro Martinez, pitcher for the Expos and then the Red Sox? True story, when he came up to Montreal as a rookie, someone brought him a poutine and he was convinced it was a joke.

Ok.

What’s a “Mi'kmaq?”

🤣🤪

Ok, I try not to overdo the smart ass thing, but usually I fail. I didn’t want to insult any foreigners, so I looked up “poutine.”

“Poutine (Quebec French: [puˈt͡sɪn] ⓘ) is a dish of french fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy.”

Sounds “Yuk” (but I bet it’s pretty good).

A guy who worked for me out of Brunswick, Georgia, took his Boy Scout troop up to Michigan for some jamboree about 30 years ago. When they went in the local hash house and ordered grits, the gal behind the counter told them “grits” was a myth.

My buddy sent the restaurant a 50 pound bag when they got back (I probably paid for it on his expense account).

I think they put it on top of some stones on top of the hill, and they make sacrifices to it on April fools day.

You were probably joking, but for anyone who's curious that's the current proper spelling for what used to be called "Micmacs" who were one of the native peoples in these parts. I'm not sure if "micmac is now considered un-PC but I figured I'd err on the side of caution... this time.
