What did YOU do today?

I'm also looking at a fold up fire ring. Not so much for LBL but for places where they don't have one
You may want to consider a portable fire pit kind of thing. Some places do not allow fires directly on the ground. So, you not only need a ring, but something that keeps the fire up off the ground. That was my goal when I bought my flat pack grill.

I'll have to look into that.

Cleaned up all the tools in the garage and took measurements for the next projects. One is lid reinforcement for the lids on the wooden boxes for the camping equipment. The other is to build wooden boxes to replace the plastic bins that hold the kindling and smaller sticks for building fires. The cargo straps are destroying the plastic bins, which was expected, and needs replaced.

Brought Major to the vet for his monthly check up. The steroid is being reduced so his jaw is doing much better although his weight this time was 215lbs. They are starting him on an antibiotic because he has such a sensitive digestive system that he has cow pies for poops. The pre and pro biotic aren't bulking it up enough but at least it isn't the runs anymore.

After his appointment the GF worked on the pool and I cleaned the house and did the floors while her mom was out of the house. I also changed a brake light bulb on the Trail Blazer cause it's due for inspection.

Went to replace the rusted out backer plates for the rear brakes on my F250. They didn't have a cutout to slide them off the side of the axle tube, so just bit the bullet and drained the differential so I could pull the axel shafts out of the way.

Turns out, the axle bolts on from the outside and I didn't need to pull the cover. No big deal, the fluid probably was original anyway. Only problem is the flange with the wheel studs are not part of the axle and I need to remove the entire assembly.

Not the quick half hour job I was hoping for.

Now it's just in 1000 pieces waiting for a special socket, and some other stuff to get here this weekend.

Watered the back yard early morning, as it's brutal hot right now here. With my heat stroke a few years ago..unable to be out in this heat. I smoked a joint outside and watched the TV show a team all day inside the ac. I love that show.

Solid way to spend the day!

We sat in the rio frio river today while the kids jumped off the high bank into the water.

Finished installing a utility sink in the sister-in-law's basement. The sister-in-law and the wife work their papercraft magic in that basement. Total shame for them to work down there for years with no sink and running water! Heck of a long messy job though. Much easier to replace an existing sink with a utility sink than to start from scratch.

Now to add a toilet (ha, ha).

What year f250? I’ll get you the torque spec for the hub bearings.
I’d also recommend replacing the hub seals if you’re going to remove the hub (the flange with the wheel studs).

I went and picked up some engine paint for the block I'll hopefully be getting back tomorrow. Then I proceeded to sleep for most of the day. I'll call it preparation for a sleepless night due to all of the fireworks that are expected tonight. Surprisingly it's almost 10:30 pm and there hasn't been much popping off yet.

Speaking of popping off. I did recieve some new holsters yesterday, so today I stuck pistols in them so they could start relaxing and taking shape. Don't know who might be in the market, but this makes my 3rd purchase of VersaCarry products. Previously I'd bought two holsters for a 1911 and a Bersa. This purchase got a couple of belts a holster for my other 1911 and my Canik, and a couple of mag pouches. Definitely happy with what I recieved.

I love Craigslist!

On my list for nationals was to fix the AC in the Road Ranger. I already bought the bad hose, drier, o ring set and expansion tube. Today I got a used but brand new vacuum pump, the $130 ones for $30.

I was going to get adapters for my ancient R12 gauge set (about &25), but I found a new complete kit in a case for $33 delivered, so I ordered that.

I worked on the RR air tank set up, finally put something together I like. Of course totally different idea and a different tank. I got it 90% together, then had to paint the tank. I’ll write it up in the build thread when I get it all together.

And say a puppy prayer for little Lincoln. He had a rough week. Couple of months ago I got some guys to cut down some trees and clean stuff out for a couple thousand dollars and I’ve been hitting the low stuff with the lawnmower in a Weedwhacker. Where is the close in suburbs, but there are a lot of deer around here. Really don’t see many by me though because it’s a very busy street. But there were a couple that would occasionally hang out in the dark corner of my backyard.

Lincoln and I went out a couple days ago, and he ran straight into the dark corner, barking, and then before I could even get my seat he came out like a lightning bolt going the other way. I figured he was going after a different critter.

I got looking in my phone, and he was charging in the corner again barking. There was a little commotion, and right when I looked up, Lincoln shot passed me like a bullet, with that whimpering kind of arc, and I was sitting face-to-face with a pretty good size big deer! That’s the first time I’ve ever seen Lincoln run and whimper.

Deer and I had a staring contest for about 10 seconds, Lincoln started to come back. Slowly, the deer took a step forward, and I threw my arms up in the air and shouted, and then it went off in a different direction. Lincoln was clearly upset the entire rest of the evening, and he did go more than 3 feet away from me the next day when we went outside. his territory had been violated.

Last night we came in about 10 PM, and very unusual, there was a mama deer and a little fawn literally sitting in the middle of my front yard. I’ve seen them outback once in a while, but I’ve never seen any out between the house of the road. When I parked in the front turn around, they meandered over to the property line, but didn’t run. Lincoln barked out the window, but when I pulled him out and put him on the ground (and I kept them on a leash this time) he didn’t want anything to do with it, he just walked around the back of the house and went inside. I could tell by the way he was acting he was all shook up again.

Well, today was happy birthday America. So everybody shooting fireworks all day long, and then, right behind me is a Park where they do the bigger displays. That really freaks Lincoln out. He stayed virtually under my feet. The few things I had to do walking around, and when I sat down to watch a little TV, he literally crawled up on top of my chest. The only time he does That is what he’s really spooked. I fear it’s going to go on all weekend.

Quiet now, took my pill. Wish I had one for him
