I have been wanting to get a container to keep roadside essentials in like under the seat where I can forget about it but if I need it I have it. Like a spare ignition module, some fuses, relays and maybe a spark tester. Then I got into the rathole where stuff to adjust the carb, wheel seals etc would be nice too. I had a little cheap toolbox but it had to ride on the passenger floor since it didn't fit anywhere in the cab.

Bunch of new packout type stuff out now, it was really hard to find something compact that was big enough to hold what I wanted it to but not too big. Space efficiency doesn't seem to be a big concern with a lot of that stuff, extra latches to connect to other things, big bulky molded on handles etc is the norm.

But I did find this neat little Stanley container.





The thing is awesome... but the module was a hair too thick so the lid would bubbled out while closed and it also fit nowhere in the cab.

So I did some more thinking and noticed I had a tin that would actually fit perfect. It fits under the seat just how I wanted it too.



And when not in use it is cleverly disguised as a sewing kit.



And with the module out of the box now I can fit a set of wheel bearings in the tote which will still be awesome to have with on offroading trips. The loose bearing race with the spindle seals in the upper left is a new one that came in one of my rotors, I just use it as a driver to install new bearing races.

Those Stanley organizers are nice - I used two similar ones for medical equipment installs at work for many years before switching to packout. I'd probably still be using them if I wasn't past their weight limits, filling them full of allthread chunks, washers, nuts etc made them flex a lot. For your use they will be perfect. I too liked that they weren't so bulky looking.

I agree. It's difficult to find decent containers that don't waste a lot of space

Now your sewing kit needs a new container.

Actually one year I purged and just taped Christmas presents in them and made them someone else's problems lol.

I did notice my front t-case was pretty oily when I put the driveshaft on it last fall... a new seal and a speedi-sleeve just came in for that today. I might do that tomorrow and get that off the checklist.

Grille guard sideplates are due back from the machine shop on Monday, then I just need the tubes and to make mounting brackets.

It looks a little weird because it is wider than it will be. And the brush guards are not on it. And it isn't full of winch yet either.

I was wanting to make openings in it like a Warn transformer but with the bolt on brush guards that didn't really work.

And for alongside the winch... the mounting brackets go right there.
