New tools you've bought recently?

I live on a half acre, and I drag the extension cord around with the lawnmower, the harbor freight chainsaw, and a harbor freight 6 foot chainsaw. It all works just fine.

The idea is to use in places other than the back yard. In general, I do quite a bit of wood cutting every year to keep the firewood racks filled. A day of running only a 20" Stihl 311 can be quite tiring. The small saw for limbing may relieve some of that.

Plus, it might be handy for clearing trails of fallen trees. The goal there is to clear enough of the tree to clear the trail. A chainsaw can handle somerhing twice the length of it's bar. It might be enough for that, maybe not. Worse comes to worse, the bow saw and felling axe in the truck could finish the job. The saw would take care of the bulk of the work. And there is no worry about fuel to contend with and the saw would take up less room.

It sounds good in theory, reality may show the theory is wrong.

I have both the Milwaukee 6” bar pruning chainsaw and the 16” chainsaw. They’re great for around the yard stuff. I wouldn’t use it to cut down a bunch of trees. Let’s face it, I only have 2 acres, how many trees am I really cutting down? These battery powered saws are the perfect thing for a few large branches a year, a few smaller trees, etc.

I plan on bringing the 16” chainsaw with me on the Vagabond trip… you never know.

More often than not, I'm using my saw in locations other than at home. For what work is needed done at home. The 10" saw would be more than enough since I'm usually dealing with fallen branches.

Bought this Klein sheet metal crimper. Works really well. Just wish I'd known about these crimpers years ago. As is, I've got to rearrange and insulate some 6" round duct work and I'll be cutting and crimping this duct work in the process.

FYI, it will also crimp downspout drain if you need to fit a cut section in another

I keep looking at the battery saws. Be nice to throw in the truck or for around the yard. I was a bit skeptical of some of them especially the small ones with the 6-8” bar, but my one buddy has one that uses Dewalt batteries and it was pretty impressive for what it is. Might have to add to the collection sometime, lol.

@sgtsandman , I hear you on the big saws, I have dad’s old Craftsman with a 20” bar (it’s got enough power I could probably run an even longer bar) and it’s a workout to run it all day. I mostly just use it for bigger stuff. My Stihl with a 16” bar gets the most use. Big enough for most work but also small and light enough that it’s not a bother to run all day. I also have a couple other gas saws sitting around here in unknown condition that I haven’t got around to seeing what’s what with them. Couple are old Mac top handles.

So the local Blaines Farm and Fleet had a rewards member day. If you use their credit card... they give you 15% off the total. That alone makes a good deal a great deal. I also had $25 in rewards points.

I got a m12 3 inch cut off tool... which came with a free m12 HO 5.0amh battery... $119 for that battery. FREE... thank you!! I also bought the m12 fan for summer camping... I can't sleep without a fan.

And to top off a sweet deal... when sitting in the parking lot... I got an email that Blains just sent me another $25 in rewards.

In my best Charlie Sheen voice.

WINNING!

Don’t take this wrong, but now that I’ve seen a lot of what you do, I’m a fan…
