So I saw some of the 4 door crews they sold in Mexico and not having a legit back seat has always been an issue. However I just can’t seem to find much information on them. Anyone know where to get some? Do they come in 4x4 or the 4.0L? Can you change the dash cluster and edit the computer much to match? Looking for some things like that. Any help is always appreciated! I’m fluent in Spanish and so I’ve had the thought of going to Mexico and driving one back to import it. But I don’t want to get jipped into P.OS. If theyre bad and I never knew it.

I saw one out toward Chatanooga back about a year ago. It had Texas tags. Only one I've ever seen. Front end looked like a 93-97.

Legally has to be 25 years old or older to import into the US so if you get one it won't be a spring chicken.

There might be an issue on parts availability too. Most of the foreign Rangers have deisel engines and the transmission is probably going to be different. I know Australia had 4X4 as well as RWD models. Mexico might be the same. I have no idea what the ones in Qatar had but there were international versions of the Ford Ranger there as well.

I wonder how much paperwork that is? Would be cool to get one with mechanical problems and Explorer V8 swap it.

I see them pretty regularly since i am so close to mexico. I was going to snap a pic last week when i was in brownsvillr and saw a few.

Pick brownsville texas in marketplace and type ranger. You will see them for sale because that will also include matamorros and progresso mexico in your search.

There are a few places in austin and houston that do importing but i am sure that if you call texas department of transportation, or your state's dot, they can aso instruct you on what to do.

Well thats crappy. I posted that and than went to marketplace to find some and i cannot find any now

They had different safety and emissions rules in other countries. I would be surprised if the tree huggers in our gov would let you import one. Maybe if it was designated antique like someone else mentioned. Then they would probably only give you antique plates, which means if you drive it work everyday they and the insurance company might have to something say about that. The land of the free you know.

they import lots of vehicles from other countries here in texas. call one of the import companies or your dot and ask what is required. look up rhd on marketplace and most of htem will be for sale from the same car dealers because they are importers. call them and ask.

Yeah, 25 years old or older and pretty much anything goes.

I a world where it's getting harder to find a two door with a 6 foot bed... I can't see myself wanting one of these. But that's just my humble opinion.

FYI... I moved this thread to the general discussion forum.

I think some came with a full size bed too

They do not come with 6' bed.
They are built on the same frame as the SuperCab. So, to get 12" more cab for the proper 2nd row doors, you lose 12" of box.
The cab roof is not smooth like a SC, but bumps up at what would have been the end on a regular cab.
They do come with torsion front suspension, so yes 4x4s exist
They only come with a diesel (well, at least all I saw were diesels) and majority were standards (probably not a showstopper for those on this forum).

Basically, they are same as 1st generation Explorer Sport Trac....
