Ran vac an hour and a half-ish, added a can of PAG 46 charge, then the kool juice, then she got to working fill and then....... BOOOOOM!!!

MASSIVELY better airflow and fabulously chilly air!! WINNING!!!

Oooohhhh shiny!!!! Pretty!

That is looking good.

Still need to flush the condenser

It's well worth the time to clean the outside of the condenser really well, between the fins, and straighten any bent fins. It'll help a lot with the heat exchange.

Did that right after Christmas with the valve cover and oil pan gasket change, and alternator, water pump and PS pump replacement. Had the radiator out, so cleaning it was easy.
Sat on the little rolling stool and did the fin straightening trick.
Took 1.5 beers.

It IS the original condenser, and I could replace it, but ya know..... if it ain't broke.......
It sure as hell ain't nothing like that evaporator!! :shok:

I tell you what. New parts have gotten to be such garbage, I won't let go of an original part unless it's totally hopeless.

From looks of it, you have made several mice families homeless. Shame on you! :)

Yeah, but I also agree about new parts for old vehicles. That evap will be sent to Carlisle Auto Air here for a refurb. They rock! I also saved the copper heater core, as the new aluminum one seems mighty flimsy.

OK, beer-30 and attack the garage disaster!!
