What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Extended cab? Can you send me a pic of exactly what you need? I've got parts truck I maybe able to get a bracket from for you. If I do have it, you can have it for cost of shipping.

i’m looking for a complete vehicle, but I’m not looking yet. Right now I’m just looking for information.

Upgraded the status from revived to daily driver. My old BII daily has been feeling low powered, to put it lightly. Did a quick compression check and failed miserably. I knew it was coming. So the new old Ranger has stepped up to be the new daily driver. I’ve been puttin around in her for a couple weeks and she hasn’t skipped a beat. Fresh oils and filters is all I’ve done so far. She has been neglected so I’m in a hurry to do all the maintenance. I think she looks low in the front. I’m an 1 1/4”lower than ideal on ride high. Most likely ball joints as I do have some movement and camber is a little off. More RBV fun for TW. I gotta say I’ve enjoyed bombing around this this beat up truck.

A lot of old gals drop down in the front…

Rustoleum will cover that up
There's nothing left to cover up. The bracket has rusted completely away. When I vacuumed out the truck a couple of months back, I vacuumed up what was left of it. Nothing holds the outside of the passenger front seat now. Good thing no one rides with me.

I deleted my post regarding creating a narrower vehicle. While I was searching the web, I realized it’s already been done several times. I was thinking of building a motorcycle size semi and trailer. Think of a Volkswagen trike, but with a tandem axle, pulling a tandem axle trailer, but made out of a Ranger.

This is the best I found:

I wasn’t planning anything nearly this grand, but it’s been done, I’ll keep thinking I’m track. But thanks for the ideas.

That's good, because I was asking ben about the seat brackets he needs.

I thought you were going with the single cab look. I don't know if that is the right name for it but neither does the internet when I tried using the term to search for pictures. Everything it showed was regular cab trucks.

google motorcycle semi images.

Merry Christmas to all,

iI did the side marker light “blinker” modification.

I bought some wood to make a paint booth in my dad's insulated shop. I'm hoping to respray the roof quick and dirty some time this week. I'm planning on gooping seam sealer over the problem rust areas to address properly at a later date.

I miss having a truck but it was funny to see all the double cab short box pickups slow down to watch me load this on the roof.

The side marker/light “blinker” modification is where you change the wiring so that the side marker lights (which are steady on with the headlights) are tied into the turn signal light circuit.

Once the modification is completed, the side markers come on with the headlights AND will “blink” with your turn signal. Highly recommended safety modification to improve the visibility of the front turn signalling.

There is a write up in the electrical section of the forum.

Wish I had known that before I added these by the side logos, but no real regrets.

97 is a 1x3 LED, 87 is the 3/4 round 3-LED. I like having different s**t.

So I thought you meant you hit a squirrel and busted your light. @sgtsandman Did I miss something?

Four-wheel-drive/spare tire question:

My 87 has 235/75/15 tires, but the spare is a 215/70 or 75/15 tire, because a 235 won’t fit in the tire carrier.

I know if I’m not in four-wheel-drive, I can put the smaller tire on the front, and it doesn’t affect anything mechanically. But if I am in four-wheel-drive, for me that would be in the snow, my concern hitting a dry spot, should I use the smaller spare on the front or on the back? It’s my understanding the front is a direct connect from side to side, so using mismatched tires will cause both to fight each other, and burn. But I’m not sure if it’s the same thing if I put the mismatch tires in the back. How does it work through my non-locking differential?

Note, I’m not planning on driving any distance like this, but my concern would be if I got a flat when I was out of town. Could I drive it home without doing damage or do I have to go get a tire at retail )which is horrific for me).
