What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I just realized that this truck has the shackle opposite of newer ranger. Weird. It’s an 84 I’m pretty sure my 89 was flipped the other way stock. Just a first gen thing ?

I agree. The shackles on my 93 hang under the bracket like that.

Went down my local ditch line right before putting my sliders on over the weekend and found it pretty sloppy from all the recent rain. Had to get out and lock the hubs in so of course I snapped a pic. Pics never seem to do this ditch line justice, it’s a steep climb out, and the bottom is deceiving as it’s slick clay muck just under the layer of dead brush.

Those would be good truck of the month pictures, either one.

I kind of like the second one better, unusual shot, looks cool

All the Rangers I've worked on have the hanger pointing up and the shackle pointing down. I think the one Explorer Sport I worked on was that way as well.

Hopefully there will be more months of competition and maybe someone will nominate me then 😏

I think @Jim Oaks changed the rules and you can nominate yourself
Have to check the rules again. But I think you can nominate your own truck for Ugly truck of the month. But someone else has to nominate you for (regular) truck of the month.

Rick is correct.

I changed the rules to allow people to either nominate somebody elses truck OR their own truck for truck of The month.

Nominations will resume on January 1st.

I finally found an inexpensive lunette ring/Pintle ring. I already had the vertical channel piece to adjust the height. I’m thinking of using it on the casket/beer cooler trailer fab. $20 delivered to the house. Cheapest one I could find retail was $56 plus tax.

I have a design in mind for the casket trailer, but I’m conflicted on whether I should make it match The Road Ranger, or make it match the Missing Linc. The color red is different. The casket will be some combination of red, black, and silver, I think, and the fenders over the double axles will be red. The trailer will be all aluminum, and I probably won’t paint it.

The Road Ranger has bullet hole wheels, and the Missing Linc has steelies. Actually, I have enough spare wheels that if I pick up a couple roadworthy scrap tires, I could make a set of steelies and a set of bullet holes, depending on which contraption I pull it with.

I’m happy to say, I’m getting far enough into my retirement, that this is a big decision for me. It will take me time and research.

What does “Rick is correct“ mean? I’ve never heard that before.

I put the hood struts on a few months ago.

Gee, thanks for reminding me about something else I wanted to do to the 99. Been thinking about doing struts for years, but then forget about it until I see them again. Now that I've swapped from the light weight factory hood to a power dome hood, I really want to put some on. Never realized a fiberglass hood could be so heavy, but my stock hood was probably aluminum instead of steel.

I added oil to this pig because it’s supposed to snow all night I’m gonna take it to work!

Now why do you call it a Pig ?

I was wondering the same. If that's a pig, he's a damn good makup artist.

I highly recommend them. The 2019 has them and I liked them so much I finally installed a set on the 2011. I left the factory bar in place in the odd chance I would ever need it but having those struts is really nice and less likely to be in the way when working in the engine bay. Plus, if they are ever in the way, I can disconnect them as needed and use the factory support bar. I like options.
