What did YOU do today?

Finished the carport. Tomorrow is shred vacuuming leaves.

Did nothing but lay around & rest after I changed all the clocks & timers (that are basically a clock) Caught up on laundry and added more pine chips to the chicken house under the roosts.

Started the (rather annoying) process of replacing the valve cover gasket on the 96.. during which I swore a bunch and got covered in grease.

Upside though... nothing stripped, snapped, or needed to be sacrificed.. didn't break any electrical connectors.. and the valve cover doesn't need immideate replacement like I thought it might. Gonna channel my inner @Rick W and spray that mutha' with some rustoleum after a quick wire wheeling lol.

*disclaimer: I might not actually use rustoleum.. probably gonna reach for the cheapest, nicest colored can of enamel they have at the hardware store.... actually.... if I'm gonna channel my inner rick.. I should probably go to the local surplus/Salvage store.. they always have tons of paint 🤔

While I will never pass up a good deal, some things are sacred. Pay attention:

There is Raquel Welch, and then there’s all other women.

There’s Peterbilt, and then there’s all other trucks.

There’s Rustoleum, and then there are just crayons and finger paints.

Well I tried cutting the grass and mulching the leaves. About half way through the c clip the holds the fron wheel on broke and of course the small engine shop was closed. Guess I'll see in the morning if I can grab a c clip and finish. Oh and I became a TN state proctor. So that way Zane could take his written test and get his driver's permit. So he took the test and passed. Now we have an appointment so he can go get his photo and permit. I've also been scavenging the web looking for him a 4x4 Ranger around here. I've got a few prospects.

Spent the day looking for deer in the woods, similar to yesterday driving the '00 Explorer... Didn't see anything we could harvest other than about 8ish pounds of Chantrelle mushrooms, still gotta process my half... (took a buddy with me). The sploder is doing good, gotta revisit the sway bar bushing, I found some scraps of heater hose the other night... it could really use a front pinion seal as well, will look into that...

Gonna put another coat on tomorrow just for good measure.. then hoping to get back over there to reinstall it wednesday.

Ended up doing brake pads and a wheel bearing on my truck after work.

brakes were getting low, but the passenger side wheel bearings were loose enough to cause them to wear funny.

was great. Had so much fun.

The other side was a little loose too, but I repacked it and retorqued it and it was fine. Passenger side was, crunchy.

Hmmmm….

After careful review, I see you used a rattle can. Minus 5 points for you, but it still looks good.

Rattle cans are for art class. For the cost of two rattle cans, you can buy a quart of the brush on stuff. With a dollar store brush, you get a coating that’s 10 times as thick that will last 100 times longer.

I think I’ve said it before, but when I’ve got rusty stuff, I always make my first coat about 50-50 with mineral spirits or thinner. That lets it run into every little nook and cranny. Then I put one or two top coats on. Wears like iron.

On the five points off, I have to say that I love you that with a heavy heart. After all, I may not have been clear about the application process. Considering this oversight, it’s not too late to save your project. And you can appeal the five point loss.

but let’s not let this happen again…

When we measure paint thickness (they call it "film build") on the cars at work, they measure in microns. When I paint stuff at home, I measure paint thickness in inches.

Perhaps I have a new testament to my Craigslist Bible. On Facebook marketplace today I found eight brandy new 1000# easy ride double-eye 3-leaf springs. They’re like the overkill golf cart/hunting buggy springs. I got all eight for $60.

There’s no telling what kind of useless-but-cool harebrained contraption scheme I can come up with for these things, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to get that other set of 4 inch aluminum channel beams when the guy has them pulled.

I also found three 20’ 4”-aluminum I-beams for little money, but even I’m stumped with what I would do with them….

Love you? No, scratch that. It was supposed to say “I levied that”

I sucked up a bunch of leaves with the shredder vac and dumped the leaf remains into the garden.

nothing is quality anymore. You wouldn’t have thought that thing would’ve died and you’d have to toss it even if it was a lot of leaves.
