What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I removed the oem speakers, rear ones said Ford Premium on them, and replaced all 4 with new ones from Walmart. Just some cheap skar audio 5x7 as well as a 1100 watt Planet Audio amp and two 8' subwoofers. The 99 I used to have had a full Polk component system with two comp 12s powered by a Sony Explode 1200watt blue light. That system was awesome, it cracked two windshields and made a beer explode in the case on the way to the beach one time. Fun party trick was I could put an unopened monster on the roof and make it jump a few inches on the first beat.

I’m a little disappointed it seems as though my mpg has dropped by 5mpg with the 4.56 gears and suspension rebuild. At first I thought it was because I was running around on 34” swampers but this tank was purely driven on 32” MTs. No highway driving but the majority is 45-55mph backroads.

Anyone think this is normal or maybe I need to look for vacuum leaks? I just resealed intake top and bottom. It’s a 4.0ohv 5speed and 4.56s.

That seems low to me. There are so many variables. I get around 15 on my '93, 3.0l. It's lofted 6" running 35" mud terrains and 4.56 gears. Heavy tires and bad aerodynamics are my biggest problems.

Only piece is missing is the rear bar, after looking up model a factory replacement is $110.
I would imagine a rear bar shouldn’t be too hard to make if you can weld and you might be able to make that cheaper than a factory replacement

Yeah I’d be happy with 15, I’ll get a can of starting fluid and see if I have a vacuum leak anywhere.

THANK YOU!

It’s probably not going to happen this weekend because we have rain till Monday, but I truly appreciate the guidance.

And, oh, don't worry..,,

Go Braves!!!!!

If you want the torque to turn numbers I can dig them up, I have a manual on Ford 8.8s, they are in there somewhere.

My Ranger got a new sticker… and I washed the window. Well, I washed the top half of it

Thanks, but mine is the smaller 7.5. I’m not going to pull it all apart. I looked online a little bit, and no more than I drive it and no more than I do with it, I’m going to mark it and just put it back in the same place.

Got four new tires and new front shocks installed and an alignment done today. Yeah, that was a chunk of change, but these tires are quiet and have a 70,000–mile treadwear warranty (Kumho Crugen HT51). With the work, the truck feels better on the highway than it had since I got it 2-1/2 years ago.

Got five new tires for my 93 and the spare I swear was the one that came with the truck.
I was going to have one of the old rear tires (Cooper Cobra) put on the spare wheel. Turns out it's a "donut" spare, so the full-sized tire wouldn't fit, and it was undoubtedly the original donut. The shop pumped it to 60 psi because it was low (down to 25 psi). Maybe I'll get a spare full-sized wheel from a salvage yard one day to replace it.

I'm not easily impressed any more, but those Kumhos have impressed me so far. I did my homework before choosing that tire. Can't wait for a long trip to see how they do and whether they improve the fuel economy. The new Monroe gas shocks in the front help too. The old ones were the original factory shocks and they were well past their prime, jounce jounce. The rears are still doing all right, so I left them alone.

JOB DONE!!! That's EVERYTHING between the crankshaft and the rearend pinion replaced except the Turbo 350's valve body and transbrake. Back down on the trailer deck for the first time in a couple months. Broke it on August 12 - had to wait for my new converter, had to wait for my transmission guy to build a new TH350 because he had to wait for trick clutches and steels and a few more hi-po parts. Takes FOREVER to get stuff way down here in the Maritimes from the USA.

Finished the mechanicals of my snow plow. Just have to wire the controller and it’s ready.
