Friend of mine put down a $1,500 pre-order deposit on the R1S(SUV model) a few years back
He just got notified that he should get delivery in a few months, and at the same Price as was suggested at the time of the pre-order, $80,000can, current list is $120,000can, its the full option model

He's keeping it :)
So I guess I will get to drive it a bit
Been seeing more of the SUVs and Rivian Trucks(R1T) around town recently

There’s a bunch of them around here. They’re ugly as hell.

There was one of the trucks that did the stock truck tractor pull last year at the event I go to/volunteer at... It was in a class of it's own since no one knew what to class it as :), did pretty good since they have like 400hp but are 7400 pounds... It did better than my V8 Explorer but that doesn't take a lot... this year the sploder should do better with an engine rebuild, cam and headers and if I get fruity an extra leaf in the rear springs...

It'll be interesting to see how the battery's hold up in the cold since most battery's loose some of there charge over time in the cold.

we have a couple of teh truck versions around here but I have yet to see the SUV version in the wild.

Use the powerstroke power wheels wont have a chance :)

The diesel class is too competitive in that weight class for my worn out junk, plus putting all the power down it'd be really nice to have traction bars and maybe even a drivers side motor mount :) (gravity works pretty good holding it down for normal uses, usually when I need low range it's to drive slow not use power...). Ford and their ginormous engine crossmembers makes it so I'll likely have to pull the engine or at least lift it up a bunch to get the broken bolt out of the block before I get a mount in there, I've had the mount for years...

I know the feeling of having the part but never getting around to it lol. Some things just wear you out thinking about doing them

In my defense I thought the mount went out but then looked and saw the broken bolts with no way of getting to them to drill out, might need to rethink now that I have a solid wire feed welder instead of just stick and flux core, it seems to work much nicer for welding nuts onto broken bolts...

Not to meander Ron's thread too far :), the Rivian's look neat with the variable suspension, all the HP, all the weight... I'm not too against the looks of them, I do find it odd that the trucks seem to almost all have the cross bed bars with a bike rack or car top box or something...

Not to change the subject, lol

But he will be using it to pull a horse trailer with 2 horses, about 7,000lbs, for shorter distances, under 50miles each way, as the longest for now
He is also curious about range pulling the trailer and how the cold will effect it this winter, but the horse trailer pulling is pretty much a summer thing

R1S is rated at 835HP and 908ft/lb torque
0-60 in 3.1 sec

There is a few of their truck around me. Fairly rural, but yuppie rural if that makes sense. Think "country Estate" vs Farm.

Don't actually know anyone who owns one though so I can't say. I see a green one a lot, so I assume that's a daily diver for someone.

I kinda like them & their styling.. the SUV ones look cool. Seeing more and more every day.. mostly the pickups.

He'll pry be close to 0% charge when he gets home unless he can charge wherever hes going.

He also better make sure hes on 100% when he leaves.

He has a 2014 Ford Superduty crew cab diesel, he uses now for towing

Our fuel prices in Western Canada are the highest in North America, almost double of the highest prices you are paying in the US

Our electricity cost is one of the lowest in North America

There are quite a few EVs around town because of this and also charging stations because of this
