Im gonna be getting 4 new tires on my 1993 ford f-150 5.8 v8 4x4 because my 32x11.50r15 tires are 14 years old.

My question is should i get the stock tire size of 265/75r15 or 31x10.50r15 ?

The 32x11.50r15s on my 15x7.5 rims are do able but to big and i don't need and i don't want the bigger tire size.

Thank You,
Gary DuBois

I ran 31in BFG A/Ta on my 96 4wd with no issue.

Dont remember the width though...probably 10.5.

What size engine did you have in your 96, do you have any pictures of your 96, did yours have a automatic or manual trans

265/75r15 should be the stock size and is basically the same as 31x10.50r15 . I'm currently running old BFG 31x10.50r15 on my '95 F150.

265/75r15 is the stock size tire for my 93 f-150 4x4 and i have heard that 31x10.50r15 is basicaly the same size tire as the 265/75r15 its just the 31 inch tire is more rugged.

31's are not necessarily "more rugged"... you want to look at the tire specs of the exact tires you are looking at. Load rating, speed rating, # of plies, etc.

I dont think i have any pics anymore...but it was a red XL 4wd reg cab long bed with a 300 and an auto.

....and yes @Shran is right. Tire size doesnt make a rugged tire. Its about brand and type for ruggedness.

My personal choice is the BFG A/T....athough the general grabber atx on my ranger have impressed me

Then can I ask, "What's the difference between a 31x10.50 tire on a 15" rim Vs. a 256/75-R15 tire"

Without looking at the exact specs on a tire size calculator, the difference is one is in metric measurements and the other in inches. This is assuming you are looking at the same make and model of tire.

A 265/75r15 is 30.7 in in diameter.

A 31 is obviously 31.

Plus 31 sounds cooler...because 'murica

It is actually rare for a tire to meet inch spec.

Though some exceed it as well. I had a set of 41 iroks that measured 43. My 42 iroks are 40.5. . . 😒 Wtf ...

The 44 boggers I used to borrow were almost 46.....I was counting on them being 41 to 42 which is normal like the tsls ... They were too big and I was limited on steering and climbing

Why does the tires rubber on my 32 inch tires stick out past my 15x7.5 rim is it because those tires are to wide for those size rims ?

wider than your rim, probably not toooo wide though.

you want the rubber to stick out to protect the rim from hitting stuff and getting deformed or broken. some tires have a bead protecting lip specifically to help protect from damage.

you can have to wide a tire on a rim but the tire place that mounts it will normally alert you that you tire is to wide for the rim
