What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

They're all stamped China and Ford, they look the same but the painting and coating process was different... They do look decent, he threw in the center caps so it should look pretty clean once I get them on...

The picture doesn't show all the spots I gave up on but they look way better than when I got them. Don't know if the TPMS sensors I pulled off of them are useful to anyone but let me know and pay shipping and they're yours...

My local buddies and I figured out over the years that when you are doing something, you see all those little defects. You know where they are, so you may even see them again later. But the reality is that nobody else is ever going to look at it that close again. They look at the whole truck and have an impression. Things that look the way they’re supposed to look, never stick out. If you don’t point it out, nobody would ever see it.

I also learned that in commercial real estate. When I walk up to a property, I don’t try to do an evaluation of everything that’s wrong with the property. I swing my head around and I find the three or four worst things. Then I get the owners to fix those things. The next time I come up, I do the same thing, what are the next three or four things. Usually after three trips, absolutely nothing is jumping out. That is far from saying the property is in perfect condition, it’s just that there’s no glaring thing that makes you say “oh my gosh!”

The last thought, get a buddy who will be honest with you to give you an honest opinion like my real estate example. We all need to do this every now and then because we can have something stuck on our nose, and we’re so used to it we don’t see it anymore.

I think they look great the way they are in the picture!

Hope it helps!

Well, I ended up spending most of the afternoon rebuilding the tail light harness on the F-150. Apparently it’s been going bad for a good while between a previous owners hack job and my inexperienced old self back in the day. It’s probably better than new now and I worked in my trailer light wires to a Weatherpack connector and pulled off reverse and ground to a Deutsch connector for auxiliary backup lights and once I finish doing loom and get it all back in place it will look dang near factory

I used the Strangler to pull my tractor out away from my house so I can work on repairing a window. Waiting on parts to repair the tractor.

Your tractor has windows?

Another question: Does that door lock work? Pretty good security?

lock? this vehicle does not require keys.

and while there may have been 7 brand new fords in my driveway the last month.....those are the things my wife drives....

:ROFLMAO:

Some tractors do. Mine does not. I should have been more clear. My tractor was backed in next to my house after it died. I had to move it to repair a window in my house. We had some really bad downpours a couple nights back and my house was flooded because a window leaked. We had 5 hours of rain like I've never seen before and I have lived here for 46 years.

I was just messing with you!

We had a couple never-seen-before monsoons down here in the last few years. Don’t worry, John Kerry has it under control.

Haha, Amen. My silly little 87 Ranger, The Missing Linc, is my favorite to drive, my dog Lincoln’s favorite to ride in, and I use it all the time when the temperature is under about 85°

What’s really amazing is that Sweet Pea, who drives a convertible German rocket, will ride in that thing. Except that’s mostly when we have to pick something up for her. Otherwise, she pretty much doesn’t want them in the driveway, but she’s a pretty good sport about it.

I drove Big Red, the F250, yesterday for the first time in a while because I had to pick up a long stick of steel. Driving that little Ranger is like driving a golf cart compared to that long bed long cab diesel. I almost rear-ended a guy at the street light right at the corner because I forgot how heavy it was, and it needs a little more stopping distance!

She also bugs me about my two square body Town Cars, both pristine, but then when she’s riding in one she’ll say something like “this is really comfortable,” or she’ll notice that everybody’s looking at them and comes up when we park.

The (Lincoln) Continental Mark V, 460 w/glass packs? That’s verboten….

Finally done installing my DJM 4/5 kit! Took several weeks because I was busy, but I missed driving it. Feels way lower driving it, I scrape on a few extra bumpy roads, but other than that I can still turn lock to lock. Might look into it.
What rims are you running?

Not much ranger related today other than my tires showed up a day early, no energy to mount them tonight. I spent most of the evening installing a backup camera in a relatives Prius, wasn't too bad just hard to get a clean install in the hatch which took most of the time, kept forgetting to route the wire around something so had to redo the zip ties like 4 times, getting the video connector through the accordion thing is always fun... the hatch part of the backup camera in the '00 Explorer took the most time too when I did it like 5 years ago...

NEED HELP:

I think I’ve mentioned I’m not much of an off-roader. I was riding around in The Missing Linc today (reminder: 87 2.9 4WD 3” lift) and I ran up on a broken water main that was being fixed. They routed us around on the gravel shoulder.

Here’s the problem. I got mud on The Missing Linc! It’s all over the sides and the back

What do I do!?!?!?

Nothing… the rain will eventually solve your problem. It’s the environmentally friendly thing to do.

Wheels are from a 2018 Mustang Ecoboost. It’s perfect because Ecoboost owners are dying to get rid of their wheels and tires. I picked them up basically new 400$ on fb marketplace, sold my old tires for $550. They fit with a 1” spacer, no lug stud trimming needed.. I got the inspiration from another forum member.

Mud is part of your storyboard. You must keep some of it. Otherwise, Supercab and SnoRanger nailed it. Congratulations.
