What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Ended up over at my brothers on a tractor for many hours today, but the Ranger got to do farm stuff too, aside from hauling diesel to the tractors it also got hooked up to a pipe trailer to get it out of the field and pick up some pipe from another pile... drove it through a fresh plowed section (not my idea, but whatever, it worked out) and with the tires in the furrow of course the diff bottomed out (the '97 so tires are only 28" tall), it was only mildly restrained and made it out under it's own power... -20 pounds of tongue weight on a pin hitch with a pin that's 4" too long is kinda interesting but it worked out :)

I guess our new window decals make it real. We are now officially down the Super/Pro and delay box rabbit hole......

Well, I’m back from JeepFest. It was a great time with friends for sure. Want to do it again next year.

Sadly, the choptop didn’t make it there. Hit a couple/few snags and delays on getting the engine swapped and suddenly I was wore out and way past time and I still have to get the new engine set in and buttoned up enough to be rainproof, so that was a bunch more fighting and I ended up too late to get checked into the campground so I just crashed at home and got up early and hustled up there Friday morning. Took the F-150 and it managed to get a little attention, lol. Choptop definitely has to make it there next year.

Inspected the brakes, adjusted the parking brakes, greased the suspension zirc fittings, and rotated the tires on the 2011.

EDIT: Side note. It looks like my floor jack is failing. I’ll check the fluid level but it isn’t pumping up properly. The thing is about 20 years old. So I can’t complain. That thing has seen a lot of use.

99% of all hydraulic jacks can be “rebuilt” in an hour or less, and usually all you need are the right o-rings. You can usually get a kit for $20 on eBay (a kit meaning a mixed o-ring set). Make sure they’re oil rated, not sink stuff.

My 2 cents, hope it helps.

Afterthought: I have 3 big ones (2-3 ton) 4-5 small ones (1.5 ton) and 2-3 bottle jacks. Almost all were scrap finds that worked perfectly after an o-ring swap. I probably don’t have $400 in all together, accumulating them for 50 years

I’ll have to look into it.

Still up on stands but soon ready to go on the trailer - oil change, valve lash and Holley fuel bowl inspection all that's left now..... Today's helpful hint: A box from a friend's new fridge makes four mats that are easier on old bones than the concrete floor. Got one on the other side too.

Appliance boxes are great! Especially on a gravel driveway!

Picked up an extra bottle of coolant and some sway bar end links for the 2011. Once the driveway dries out enough, I'll get to getting the fluid changes done. It's due for a coolant change, brake and clutch fluid change, and a drain and fill of the power steering fluid reservoir this year along with the usual oil and oil filter change.

I also got the slow leak in one of the tires fixed. The tire shop replace the valve stem at no cost to me, which was nice. I don't know if it was a loyal customer deal or that I'm in the military. Either way, they didn't charge me for the service.

I prefer slightly used rugs/carpets myself. Sweet Pea tends to redecorate pretty regularly, so I have a constant supply of the small ones.
