I just purchased this 1991 Ranger 2.9L 4x4 for my daughter for her first vehicle. It has some cool features that she was really interested in. I have been digging into it and have found several issues. The one I need assistance with here is some engine bay wiring. I have searched and searched and cannot find the answers. Please let me know what wires are in the pictures. The truck WAS an auto and HAD the electronic t-case. Now it is a 5 speed with manual t-csse. It also used to have a/c but that has been removed. I looked around the engine bay and could not find any place where these connectors or wires were or where they were cut. Eventually I would like to add a/c back to it but I would just like to make it a reliable daily driver for now. I appreciate any help.

Welcome to the site. I'm not much help with which connectors/wires are what. But it always amazes me how PO hack up/cut wiring and not protect it.
 
Ya. That's how we got it. I don't get it either.
 
AC harness starts from a small single pin connector by the blower motor.

After that it is pretty much stand alone. There is a connector that goes to the pcm for the wot cutout relay but that's it.

It looks like the third picture I attached with the larger bundle of cut wires may be for reverse lights and the NSS. Can anyone confirm?

That could be the harness that went to the automatic transmission.
Curious. Do your reverse lights work? Can you start the engine without pushing in the clutch?

I have not tried to start it yet. The PO did not put the plate between the trans and engine block. This caused the starter to over engage. I have removed the starter and I am going to remedy that today. It also has a flatbed on it and no lights currently. So... no test on either of those has been completed lol

O2 sensor is usually 4 wires. Two for the sensor and two for the heater circuit.
 
My O2 sensor only has 2 wires, though it is a 1985 and not EFI.

Seeing that it looks like it is on the passenger side and the two wires are solid black and thick, it might be a ground connection. Look for a through the frame stud near the front of the passenger side tire. The wires will connect on the inside of the frame under the battery tray, at least on my 1985 B2. It might have been pulled with a harness (cut from the frame when it couldn't be undone because of rust) and then never reattached on the new vehicle.
 
Does it still have the electric TC shifter? You really need an in depth manual. If you have a home computer a CD off Ebay is a cheap way to go. Get the original Ford disk and you have everything about that vehicle (as it WAS)'

It is tricky learning how to follow that disk but one must remember it was developed prior to Windows 95 being released. Basically I use forward and back( a square semicircle arrow) You can find every wire every bolt and every spec on there. I've been using one since buying my 93 in 2007 and my first repair was a slave cylinder and replacing everything from the crankcase back and that was $6 very well spent

General location of the wires in question would be helpful here. I have some thoughts on what they are but I'd like to be more sure before I tell you.

That being said, a quick look at the chopped off wires in a diagram leads me to believe they're all of the wires that would control torque converter lockup, 3-4 shift solenoid, reverse lights and the starting circuit. The two large gauge black wires and connector are what I believe are grounds, and the last one may be a test plug if it is tied into the same wire loom as the red eec test connector.
 
I'd put wire caps over those loose ones. You might could try a test light or something and have someone flipping switches

The two black ones and the plug are on the passenger fender under the hood and the larger bundle of cut wires are in the driver's side under the hood. The larger bundle looks like it runs along the drivers side of the intake manifold and may go to some sensors.
