I'm back with another Ranger.

Looking good ! .

Is that an OEM grille or aftermarket ? .

My Ranger is a total stripper so when the painted grille began flaking it's paint I located a N.O.S. chrome one, like your rig I think the chrome looks better .

I still need to repaint my front buper though .

How about telling us what you're doing with the interior ? .

Yay! nice score and welcome back!

Ya know being stuck here w/ these guys is one of many reasons I will never sell my ranger. My other cars, trucks I know I will one day part with, some happily, but I will be buried stuffed in my ranger, with my dirt bike loaded in the bed, tailgate down.

Anyways, where in CA u at? I would be interested in a '77 mustang, and have some stuff that might fit your truck.

I am in the part where the traffic is really bad and it smells like pee pee in the public areas.

The grille is a $39 reproduction from LMC. I just painted the silver part of the grille black. I've been working on the interior. It's still not done yet. The dash has many cracks. I have a nice crack free dash cleaned up and ready to install. I hope to get the interior done this weekend, then I will post pictures.

I'm in Placerville CA.

I replaced the badly cracked dash with a crack free dash that I found in a wrecking yard. I added a Ranger label to the tach cluster and added a Ranger XLT dash emblem.

How do you like the lights.?.?

I love them. I feel they give the truck and cleaner more modern look. Plus the headlights are much brighter and I like the LED day time running lights.

Here are some pictures of my Rangers new look. I finished buffing out the paint. Changed the red/gray fade stripe to red and blue, New Ranger XLT emblems with red white and blue XLT. Ford Motorsport flag decals on the 1/4s, New mirrors and repainted trim, handles and locks. I also just added new wheel lip moldings. I lowered the truck in the rear by removing the coil over shocks. I've ordered shorter shackles for the rear to get the truck even more level. I'm also waiting on rear window louvers and the drop in bed liner to finish off the exterior. Next on my list to do is a new clutch, seat upholstery, more cleaning and detailing under the hood and maybe a new fuel pump.

I am torn....this or a maverick.

If they were offered to me for free....

Hmmm

I replaced the restrictive air silencer that goes from 3" down to 1 1/2" with a aluminum 3" pipe and blue silicone elbow. I don't know if it will give the engine anymore power. I think it looks a lot better. My engine has a rattle when warmed up at idle after a oil change. So it looks like I will have to rebuild the engine. Just like I had to do with the 2.3L in my 97 Ranger. I will paint and detail the engine when I rebuild it.

I haven't posted here in a few years because I sold my 1997 Ranger XLT with Splash parts add. I missed not having a truck. The 89/92 Rangers have always been a favorite of mine. Last week one of my co-workers showed up to work in a 1992 Ranger XLT 2.3L 5 speed 2wd. Just the type of Ranger I had been wanting. He bought it for his nephew about six years ago and his nephew just bought a new car and gave it back to him. He said he would sell it to me for $2,000 . I couldn't pass it up. It needs some fixing up. All and all it's not a bad truck and drives well for a Ranger with 189K miles. I look forward to getting this Ranger fixed up. I'm going to use the Ranger as my everyday driver to replace the 1977 Mustang that I've been driving to work everyday for 20 years. When I sell my 77 Mustang I will use some of the money to fix up this Ranger.
What a fantastic Ranger. I don't think there are many more appealing (to me). I'm wondering how much all these improvements cost you. The hood, interior and paint.

The under hood insulation was around $25 on ebay, The dash was $70 at a wreaking yard, The primer and paint where under $200 and I had enough clear coat from a car I painted a few years ago.

I painted the front air dam body color and installed a new bedliner and tool box.

What's your estimate of your total cost so far plus the cost of the engine rebuild? Will you send it out to the machine shop and do the assembly yourself or send the engine itself and let them do the rebuild but you install it, or just drop off the truck and let them do all of it?
