I got screwed by Patriot Buick Chevrolet GMC in Ardmore, Ok

Sounds like you got the old tack on when it came to paperwork....gotta read those things.

Also as mentioned, negotiating based on monthly payment is the worst, and exactly what they want.

When I was buying my F150, the guy kept coming at me with a monthly payment. I told first of all I'm not paying $550 a month for a basic truck (in 2008)...and 2nd, I want to know what I'm paying total for the truck, then I will decide if I want to finance it or just pay cash.

They did not like that because it showed the blatant ripoff. The truck went from sticker special of $20,989 to just under $40k out the door. I negotiated that down to $23k OTD, $28k after interest if I did a loan.

They asked if I wanted 0% interest, or a rebate. I asked what's the rate in the loan with the rebate, its 3%, and the rebate was good enough for a chunky down payment, so that's what I did. Payment came out to $325/ mo, 5 year loan, which I paid off early.

Never negotiate by payment, as mentioned, you will get a $450 car for a $550 payment, if you're lucky.

Also my dealer salesman friend said the two biggest deals to them is bodywork and tires. Cosmetic damage or bald rubber is great room for negotiation, on both trade ins or purchases. You should have had your way with them being willing to take the truck with that bumper damage as is.

My biggest negotiation tool is not giving an eff. If the salesmen knows you want that particular vehicle, you are screwed. I told the guy I don't give a crap what truck I get, I just need a full size standard bed, a tow package, and a extra cab. This had them by the balls.

Sorry to hear of the bad dealing. I have to say though, you never go looking for a new/er vehicle when you are upside down on a loan. the dealership will hide the difference in the loan. Just so they are not out of the money. I don't care how nice, friendly, honest, truthful, etc. they sound, look, whatever, all they care about is the money in the end and they will go to bed not even feeling a little bad they screwed you. They just don't care.

I've been screwed once by a dealer when I was young, naive, and gullible, learned my lesson and now if I don't like the deal I get up and start walking out. This leads to one of two things, either a better deal or knowing they were going to screw me.

I know you're not looking for handouts but if you start a pot for a TRS-3 build I'll throw in a couple to help out.

I remember buying a new 75 Honda CVCC Sport when they came out. I was trading in a near spotless 1972 Fiat 124 wagon that had serious hot start issues (timing belt stretch) but was incredibly clean otherwise. We had bought the Fiat from the same Fiat/Honda dealer. We kept looking cautiously across the lot to see if they would test drive the Fiat before it cooled down. Luckily we were able to yak up and detain the salesman long enough to allow it to start right up. They test drove it, said it was near immaculate and gave us top dollar for trade-in. For months everytime we would drive by that dealer in our new Honda that Fiat was still on the lot with the hood up. Sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes the nail.

Now my truck is gone!

I woke up this morning at my girlfriends apartment, took the dog for a walk, and saw that my Ranger was gone.

My F150 was registered here as a resident under her name, but we hadn't changed the plate number yet in her list of vehicles and these assholes at Texas Impound in Denton, Texas towed my damn truck.

We've been dealing with her father's death and funeral all week and we're suppose to be at the military cemetary in Dallas Fort Worth this morning at 11am for his military funeral, and my damn truck is gone.

It's going to cost me $317.53 to get it back.

I'm beyond pissed off right now.

Not a good start for TRS-3

What? Is this your '96 that was towed?
I've never heard of such a thing, must be a Texas deal.

I think it's the new one, TRS3 that he just traded the F150 for.

I'd be spittin' mad right now and some poor schmuck would be getting an earful of language I have acquired over 40 years in military, construction and industrial maintenance. It would not be a pretty scene.

No. The 2021 got towed. Towing company probably drove through, saw a new vehicle with a fresh temporary registration, figured the owner probably hasn't registered it yet as a resident, towed it, and is now holding it for ransom.

Where's the grace? I just got that truck. We've been out of town since dealing with a death. Came home for the burial since it's here not down there, my truck gets towed, and it's only Monday morning.

Paying $317.25 to get it back is a crime.

Remember that honey gets more bees than bears or whatever tf the saying is.

Check the apartment complex rules first. See what the parking policy is. Might include warnings or a grace period. Your best hope is that the towing company didn't follow the rules... assuming this is a setup where the complex hires the towing service to patrol.

Wonder what would happen if a few thousand Ranger owners called the towing company and politely asked for a discount.

Threaten em that you're calling Larry H. Parker.

That's crazy... should have come back with your name. Is your name not on file?

I'm also guessing you transfered the plate? Or can you not do that there?

Well life is testing your patience. Don't let it get the better of you. Keep rolling and stay positive.

What I don't get is, if it had a temp registration it should be good to go. Must be some finer point because the timing seems just wrong.
When I got my used one the 10-day temp registration was good past that because as long as you had an appointment at DMV you could keep driving on that. Because of 'demic and all.
