What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Even my extended cab '97 with a 2.3L will get squirrely fairly easily on wet roads, the 4.10's help with that... I try to know the limits of what it can do because ya gotta do something to keep yourself entertained, plus it's just a hooptie, the tires were $60 so whatever... :)

for sure.

i enjoyed my 2.3 powered trucks. i actually wasn't particularly looking for a v6 when this one fell into my lap. my uncle couldn't drive stick anymore so i snatched it up really quickly because i needed a small around town truck versus driving my titan everywhere. trucks are to wide now days. its good for traveling but for city driving, parking spots are to small, street lanes are thin sometimes, and i would rather have the smaller truck with less engine for city driving. the titans basically 400hp/400lbs of torque which is fun but it uses some gas in town

watched it collect more leaves from the Maple tree out front

Drove it down the road and back. I really need to fix the clutch.... it still slips over 3k..... oh well.... got other stuff to fix first.

Took the Explorer hunting yesterday after getting off early for the last day of deer rifle season, driving to a specific spot I was having a good time and kinda driving like a jackass but it's always been fine with it before... anywho, got to the spot I was going to, parked next to my friend, noticed the trailer light wires were dangling and left it for after I got back to the rig, forgot and ran it over when backing up which pulled the wires out of the connector up in there somewhere... Picked it up and went to drive out and the 5.0L was running like garbage, idled fine but was gutless, took everything it had to go up the hill in first gear, looked at stuff, up in the woods, nothing obvious other than an open random vacuum hose that we plugged with a stick. Limped it back to town and to a parts store, it had like 24 codes mostly stemming from 12V power loss to a bunch of stuff. Checked the fuses and found two blown 15A fuses... One of them was apparently the cruise control that hasn't worked in a year since it worked ONCE, there's something shorted in the cruise control and or horn circuit as both are not working and at one point the cruise control buttons made the horn go off?

Oh, didn't see any deer while out, so yet another skunked year... weather was off, they are just now getting active and I've never been in the right place at the right time...

Finished all the planned sound deadening. Might try to get some up under the dash on the firewall at some point. What’s with that vent on the lower left of the door? Has flaps like a dryer vent I guess to keep air from flowing into the cabin. Seems like quite a complicated ventilation thing for a car under $50k

It's an air baffle that allows air to escape when closing a door with all the windows rolled up.

My new Bronco II has the sound deadener on the inside outer panel of the door. I plan to put water shields on when I do the door panels.

Ahh that makes sense. I put some deadener as best as I could on the inside. That’s probably the most important part of the door. I figure more on the inside couldn’t hurt. And it might help the radio sound better. Ford already had a little 4”x8” piece in there. I’m guessing that did a good bit actually. Probably only need a few strips to soak up the resonances from the sheet metal.

I rode it hard for the second day in a row.

Caught a pic if my favorite two 4wds in town at the grocery store.

And how big of a tire can I fit again?

Went after a load of softner salt this morning (8 40 pound bags) then pulled all 3 trailers to the old place, loaded them up and brought back the flatbed & the box trailer. left a set of keys on the back bumper during one trip between the two houses, may have to walk the road tomorrow in hopes of finding them. Only 4 miles but no guarantee I will find them.
