Steel vs Aluminum Wheels

Want to turn it into a real pig? get some of the 3/8" thick steel wheels they used on Crown Vic cruisers.

They have to be that thick, have you seen what police do to vehicles?!

Steel vs Aluminum Wheels

That movie is even better when it keeps repeating itself.

I always assumed that scene wasn't actually part of the movie, they just inserted a news clip from a typical day in Chicago to save money...

I didn't weigh them, but there is a noticeable difference in the rusty 16" steels I had on my truck and the aluminum ones I replaced them with. Like two aluminum wheels don't weigh as much as one of the steels.

I can verify the weight of the PI wheels. Mom has one for a spare in her Mustang. It's insane. Ass of the car dropped 3 inches when I put it in the trunk.

3 inches?!? She might be due for new springs.

Maybe they filled the tires with lead instead of air by mistake?

Crown Vic cruisers used to come with factory steel wheels and full wheel covers. Under hard cornering, steel wheel flex a little and the $60 - $70 wheel covers flew off and cities and towns got sick of buying them so Ford started using super heavy duty wheels with small center caps.
