1984 Skamper 072S

Imma one and done, I can definitely see where there would be a huge market on rebuilding old campers.

There is a club around me for old campers but mine ain't old enough for them.

Snobs lol. How old are they looking for?

And so continues the war...

The L bracket is kind of bent up from its previous misadventure but everything lined up (I had to redrill the side hole and had a huge hole in the skin to work with after the bolt pulled thru) Looks a lot better than it used to...

Canvas is UP!

I need to replace two lights that didn't survive (I am going to try LED ones I found on ebay and see how they work), reconnect the lift, take out my inner support, clean out all my wood chips and crap out and reinstall the cushions... and wait for it to cool down.

Glad to see you got it back together... when it cools down outside I hope you end up with some time to enjoy it this year.

When I bought that camper... I bought it from a fella that had a side line business restoring vintage campers. He had several around when I picked it up. He was even converting one into a mini food trailer... there is demand for the old ones.

I guess I'm just a bit confused by the use of wing nuts to hold the top to the framing. Seems to me self locking nuts would have been a better choice.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?

I've been popping in here and there... but we bought kind of a fixer upper house and moved. Been busy with the "fixer" part of the process. I'm trying to get through the to do list so I can be ready to buy our Michigan place and do it all over again. The Michigan place will be a labor of love... this place is just labor. Also being really careful not to over spend here... I need to get our money back in about 4 years.

Temporary to hold the torsion tubes in place to locate the holes for the front brackets and holes for the sides. I have SS nylocks for it.

The wing nuts are stolen from the battery box on my tractor lol

Well that is a way better choice... I seen you constantly turning those wing nuts and the bolts turning.

Nice work again.

Looking at the prices of new slide ins recently, I can thoroughly understand why he is so dedicated in fixing this one up. Man are they expensive!

If you want a major heart attack.. look up the pricing on new overland oriented slide ins lol.

Good luck! Glad your back. Almost made a thread the other day about where you had gone off too lol.

Those were the ones I looked at that fit a Ranger. Not because I’m in the market. Just out of morbid curiosity.
