If you can't find motorcraft brand timing chain tensioner, what brand would you buy?
2011 4.0

Don't do it; too many reports of early failures of non-FordMotorCraft OilPressurized TimingTensioners!

Thanks for all the information guys! (y)

Don't know anything about their quality, but Cloyes does an interesting video here:

I went with Cloyes. They were the only ones to offer a lifetime warranty and what I saw concerning quality and reliability, they were as good as factory.

FordTechMakuloco on Youtube shows much of the same but also some of the shop tricks and what you have to go through in order to clean all the plastic debris out of the engine if the cassette guides disintergrate.

Yeh, FordTechMakuloco is a real Ranger Hound, learned a lot from him. Didn't watch all four parts, hopin' I never have to....

Did you do all tensioners and cassettes with Cloyes--i.e., pull the engine?

I am so glad I asked this question.
I'm learning a lot!

Who do you think manufactures the engine major components that Ford uses?

Mahle

Ford's main parts suppliers, along with the parts they supply, are as follows:
  • Flex-N-Gate Seeburn, Ontario, Canada: door hinges and arms.
  • NHK Spring, Shiga-ken, Japan: suspension stabilizer linkages.
  • U-Shin Europe, Komárom-Esztergom, Hungary: steering columns.
  • Valeo Electric and Electronic Systems, Czechowice-Dziedzice, Poland: starter assemblies.
  • Webasto Roof & Components, Schierling, Germany: sliding sunroofs.
  • Summit Plastics, Nanjing, China: instrument panel components.Dee Zee, Des Moines, Iowa: running boards.
  • Warn Industries, Milwaukie, Oregon: axle assemblies.
  • Chaidneme, Carabobo, Venezuela: mufflers and exhaust systems.
  • Autoliv, Valencia, Spain: airbags
Other major parts suppliers for Ford include Comstar Automotive Technologies, FCC Adams, Flextronics Automotive, LG Chem and Mahle Engine Components. Meanwhile, some indirect suppliers include Cisco (CSCO), FedEx (FDX), Penske Logistics, Roush, and Union Pacific.

So by weight maybe half or less of the vehicle is US made? Long complicated supply chain; no wonder a pandemic (or world war) can wreak havoc!
