The Ford Maverick is coming June 8th

Just think of it as a Fiesta with a bed.

Looking at that pic I think my fiesta actually has about the same amount of cargo space anyway. So my fiesta is just a maverick with a cap... :dunno:

I wonder how much work it would take to put a Bronco Sport front end on it. Then @Uncle Gump could sorta have his Bronco truck.

Yeah... not life changes of that kind for me Mr. BLMPKN

They do a lot of hiking/biking etc... Every year they travel to one of our National Parks and camp for vacation. This little truck would be perfect for them. Last year they did it in a Prius.

Hehe sorry, i couldn't let that one pass by 😇

It sounds like it would be the perfect vehicle for them though definitely. They'd be able to get to a lot more remote locations if they went with the AWD offering, and still get pretty decent fuel economy.

Maverick is offered at three trim levels – XL, XLT and Lariat. An FX4 package available for all-wheel-drive XLT and Lariat trucks adds more off-road capability with rugged all-terrain tires and suspension tuning, additional underbody protection, and off-road-focused drive modes like Mud/Rut and Sand, as well as the addition of Hill Descent Control™.

Whoa whoa whoa how are they sticking FX4 badges on this thing? It sullies the good name of the FX4! FX4 is a 4x4 package not an AWD package! They need to badge it something else for an AWD!

Remember when Ford ditched the Ranger because they said people wanted a fullsize truck? They basically brought the Ranger back as a FWD / AWD unibody.

Does this mean that AWD is only XLT and above? or that the fx4 package specifically can only be put on XLT+ models?

Usually xlt is anything (2wd or 4wd) but you need xlt 4x4 trim before getting fx4... never seen anything in an XL package with fx4, but also never seen an AWD called an FX4 so who the heck knows.

I'm pretty sure @HenryMac has an xl fx4?

Fords all wonky though clearly. Too lazy to come up with new names for things... Bronco raptor for example.

Maverick definitely aint new either lol

that's exactly who i think they could get into it. commercial versions of that base model will appeal to trades people who dont need a transit and want economy more than the need to tow something

You can get a FX4 with any trim. XL Ranger needs the STX upgrade though. (so you can brag about having a XL STX FX4 :icon_thumby:)

Most trucks I build online are base FX4 XL's... current flavor of the month is a 4x4 OR Tradesman though.

Learn something new every day. I thought xl was crappy model and fx4 needed certain "pre features" that would make it xlt...

Didn't even know the STX was back... that originally was like an 80's option right?

As someone with an STX..

What the hell is an STX? The only thing I've noticed is that my back windows are tinted compared to other XL's
