The Ford Maverick is coming June 8th

Good point on the electric thing since from what I understand this thing is suppose to mainly be marketed as a fleet type delivery vehicle. But that may raise the price beyond what the target market (cheapskate companies) are willing to pay.

A 1.6L or 2.0EB is alot cheaper than an EV setup...

But you gotta admit the specs on the lightning are pretty insane...

Yeah, I wouldn't do it for the only powertrain option.

But EV is the big thing supposedly.

Explorer is going full EV, I wouldn't be surprised of the Escape won't be too. Right now there is a plug in hybrid Escape, it only starts at $5k more than a normal one.

The Lightning is a pretty expensive truck (XLT is supposed to start at $52k) and if you do much for distance hauling/towing it is kind of helpless. I think an electric Maverick would appeal more to the city people that want a small truck to haul their push mower and mulch around with and maybe pull a small trailer (normal suburbanite stuff) and rarely leave town. Like your average 2wd Ranger owner. And for a commuter... no contest vs a bloated F-150.

Doing a drag and drop with the plug in hybrid bits from the Escape would probably be a hit too, then it would have some legs if you do need to go long distance.

Just speculation from the other side of the fence...

I went in the twin i beam direction...

In all seriousness though this thing would make a lot more sense to buy a full electric version of than the F-150.

Ah my bad lol. I don't know the proper term for its rear suspension, all I know is we should of moved past it long ago lol.

Probably monobeam.

I just saw I beam in referance to suspension and instantly went to TIB, no biggie.

Monobeam would make sense.

Definitely Bronco Sport platform. I hope they have a Supercab for a longer bed. No doubt 3 cylinder power!

And good scale in size comparison. Gonna be small.

It'll probably get a 2.0EB as an option. They shuve that stupid motor in everything. But to be fair it's got plenty of power for a small thing like that. It moves the Edge just fine. Pretty sure the non turbo 1.6 is gone and the 3 cylinder EB suuuuuuuuuccckkkkkkkks unless they've improved it from the feista version.

No... the 1.5L 3cyl still sucks.

Well I can't recall any 3 cylinder engine in history actually working out well and good lord many have tried ...

Ford 3cyl tractors were pretty good back in the 50's-60's.

This has a 3 cylinder... Yamaha knows what they’re doing.

I'll take the 4 cylinder in my 8N thank you very much. 70 some years old and still starts if you curse at it enough.

Seriously though i dunno how it even runs, the carb has been welded and brazed so many times it like a block of slag with some holes in it... people want stupid money for an original replacement but once it starts after about 30 minutes it runs fine. I have a set of Honda carbs from a 70's Honda inline 4 cylinder (I think 900cc). The carbs are the same size, with some creative intake work and jetted properly I wonder if one would work.
