Battery operated 1/2 inch Impact

There is no comparing the Milwaukee impact. It is a monster. The band saw as well.

I have rebuilt several of my DeWalt packs...and beefed them up. Problem was the charger ended up being the limiting factor .. I will have to build one to suit the higher v pack. So I just buy the shelf garf...

I really want one of the band saws but just haven't been able to justify it yet

I'm not sure how much "shop time" you get, but I bought one that I didn't really think I could justify at the time. It's one of the most used tools in the shop now. We had a corded Milwaukee porta-band that was used reasonably frequently. It now has a plate mounted on it to use as a stationary band saw when needed. The M18 does the rest of the work.

I saw a couple 12V tools for pretty cheap on your site you posted G8or...

I just need to keep it in prospective and get myself an Impact first.

I can see a couple of those 12V tools in my shop at some point.

Those are the critters I was referring to

For under dash...high value.

I live by Millwalkee tools. I have been using the M12 tools at work for years. Wore out about 5 sets of batteries in about 7 years but tools still work great. All the Dewalt guy rag me for paying extra but I always find them using my tools. Hmmm
That being said I used Ryobi in the past. Burnt up a few before swapping to Milwaukee. I used to wire houses and one of my employees was using the 18v 1/2in hammer drill to bore out the houses. I was shocked it had enough ass to do it. He informed me his corded drill had died about a year earlier and never told me because the cordless worked better. I have never used anything else since. That all being said a guy at work has the Snapon impact and that thing is a monster. Just my 2 pennies worth.

I have two of the makita porta band saws. The newer version has an adjuster and metal cover. I use them both alot! I tried the bigger 4" version, not as useful.

Well... I went yellow.

Found a 20V brushless Dewalt with a 5ah battery and charger for $269. The wife found a $30 gift card for Blaines farm and fleet that she never gave me from about 10 years ago... thought I would pop in and look. There it was on clearance. They were also giving you 5000 points and 4x the rewards if you got their charge card. So that gave me another $61 off.

So I'm like $230 into a new impact and an 18V adaptor to keep my older Dewalt stuff going.

It was to hard to pass up... I don't do this stuff for a living anymore. This thing should do everything I ever ask it to do for the rest of my tinkering days.

Don't tell my wife but I might use the savings not buying the Milwaukee Impact to start working on a M12 tool collection...:secret:

that's good to know - i've heard the same from other people, but just assumed they cut a ton of tube with it

Which impact did you buy? The big Dewalt one? I have used their mid torque 1/2 impact, it's not too bad.

I didn't think I would use mine much either but now I have two corded Milwaukees and an 18v Dewalt. They are ridiculously handy. One of the corded ones is mounted on a Swag table. 95% of what I cut with it is flat plate for brackets and tabs and stuff and it's great for wood, plastic, etc even with a metal blade on it.

Check blade availability before you buy anything. I had to run only Dewalt blades on my cordless because they were the only company making 32-7/8 blades up until recently. The two smaller Milwaukee ones use odd sized blades too...good luck finding one at 5PM on a Sunday.

It wasn't the mid torque.

Honestly... I'm back to shopping. I bought it online and was waiting for the email that it was ready to pick up. They canceled my order because it was bought over the weekend and the store inventory didn't update. Bummer.

So I'm back to where I was before...

I Keep the corded tools around for heavy work that doesn't require a lot of movement for the work. The cordless tools are for ladder work and when moving around a lot. It's nice to just have the pouches loaded up with the hardware and spare batteries and just go to town. My DeWalt 20V cordless impact driver and drill get used a lot. I've never needed a cordless impact gun, so never got one. I prefer hand tools for most mechanical maintenance even though a cordless impact would probably go faster. The corded impact gun is just used for lug nut removal mostly with the occasional stubborn odd job that just won't come apart.

Anyway, my DeWalt's have been fine but if you are starting out fresh, you can do better than with what they are putting out now. I would look at Milwakee or Mikita.

I hear you. I started with a lot of corded and air tools. Now my battery stuff get used more, but I won’t get rid of the corded stuff. If I need to do a lot of heavy work or be in one spot, I break out the corded gear and go to town. For smaller work or stuff like ladders, the cordless is a lot handier. I have no doubts about the cordless handling the work, just see little reason to abuse it more than I have to.

I took to using the cordless impact for lug nuts and virtually any tear-down on vehicles. Not so much for putting things back together, but it makes life a lot easier and faster tearing rusty fasteners apart. Some bolts I’ve put a breaker bar on or something and could feel that it was itching to break. Put the impact on it figuring I couldn’t do any worse and brrrr-ziiip. Well, that works, lol.

2962P-20 M18 FUEL 1/2 " Mid-Torque Impact Wrench with Pin Detent Bare Tool

anyone have experience with this one... it has 650ft-lbs loosen and 550 ft-lbs tighten. I kind like it because it's smaller and will get into places the big one won't. I think it should do pretty much everything I need... I just don't want regrets that I didn't buy the big torque gun. It's only 30 cheaper then the big gun so it isn't a price thing... it's a smaller thing that I just keep thinking will make it more versatile.

I didn't really see any good fathers days deals on impacts so I will probably just bite the bullet because I don't want to be without...
