Looking for someone to swap a 302 into my 96

I do know a guy who has a really really nice ranger, however, he has a Chevy 305 under the hood. He is willing to sell me the truck, but the Chevy motor is just not right

Nice looking truck.

Who in their right mind uses a chevy 305 for anything except hillbilly lawn art?

There is a shop called Extensive Metal here in Houston, they gave me a rough estimate of 9-11k lol
They have a TV show called Texas Metal. They are big time now, charging big time prices
I owned the 351, 8" rear end, and C4, rebuilt them, rebuilt the suspension and brakes, gutted the cab and installed Vintage Air on my 93, buying parts at wholesale and doing everything myself I spent $12,000. There's a lot of fabrication involved.

If your doing the swap please rebuild everything so you don't have to take it back out and fix it.

Does your county have emissions testing? If so that could be part of it... most shops will not take on a project that will make them responsible if it won't pass smog afterwards.

Even if that's not an issue I can understand not wanting to deal with it. Once you take on something like that...you own it...and you will own every issue the customer ever has with it. Plus there are so many variables with Ford EFI swaps, and very few people know them really well, and add to that the fact that nobody builds new standalone harnesses for them... even a really good shop could have many hours into just sourcing parts from junkyards and then sorting out how to make it all work.

Hello,

I live in Houston, and cannot find anyone that would be interested in doing a 5.0 in my 1996 ranger. Figured I would check on here
I just noticed your truck is a 96, in NH a 96 has to pass ODB II inspection. If you transplanted a complete 96 Explorer V8 drivetrain with all the emissions equipment intact it wouldn't pass because the VIN in the PCM wouldn't match the VIN on the registration.

Oh wow, so this would be a nightmare to start. I appreciate all of the replies and suggestions

Gas monkey, jesse james, even martin bros are all in texas I'm sure one of them could do it if u Don't mind spending the dough.

And misfit garage

There's tons of talent in texas.

There's talent everywhere but local laws differ.

Those places above would be stupid expensive. I definitely am not willing to spend like 15,000 just to have a 5.0 in there.
