What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

That spare looks like it could use some TLC.
I just plan on never needing it. 👍

...i mean, seriously, its a 2.3.... going to go the same speed whether or not the tires have air in them 🤷‍♂️

It is a 2.3, not to be confused with a 2.9...

Anyway, shake down run to Omaha and back over the weekend, everything is looking good so far. Truck rides and handles MUCH better than it did a year ago.

Few days ago I didn't have shop building in me so I fixed the wife's Explorer, the stereo went out for good this time (a todler put a quarter in the tape slot... the display hasn't worked since we got it...) so I replaced it with a junkyard one I got for like $12 months ago (don't rush me, I get to things eventually), and similarly the rear passenger inner door handle hasn't worked since we got it, I've had the replacement for a couple years, got to it finally too :). Shouldn't put off those 20 minute projects for so long, gotta remember happy wife happy life! I think there were only 2 screws involved in all of that too, the dash insert screws were missing...

I finally got the farm jack mounted in the bed of the 2011 the other day. I used brackets made for farm jacks and some rivet nuts for threading the bolts to the bed. So far, it's working well.

As soon as I find a machinist with a set of testicles, ima pull that V8 of yours right through the inducer side turbines...

Started stripping "the tow truck turd 350" of all the parts that need to be transferred to the new short block. Old 9:1 block had 400,000kms, cast crank, rods, pistons and a ton of blow by. Replacement will be 100% fresh, have all forged internals and a compression ratio over 11:1.

Well im not going to take apart my ranger trailer & make a flatbed out of it after all. Found a 7’x10’ tandem flatbed for $250 about 30 miles from me. Its big enough that the allis could fit on it (if tractor shows ever start back up again) and alot easier to tow than my tall box trailer. It needs a few things but for the money I cant complain. Front axle even has brakes, not sure what condition they are in, havent been hooked up in years. lights/wires are junk but Ive got my magnet lights/harness and with a steel deck it works out fine. Now I need to build a hitch for the mower so I can more easily move it around the yard. A little longer would of been nice but some paint/lights/jack and I might be able to double my money if I wanted to.

Hung a set of clearance bin helper springs on the 1996. They did nothing.

I also put a hitch on it this evening. It has a 2.3. ;brownbag;

Now we have a secure way to pull you out of a ditch when you get stuck!

Dropped it off at the shop for state inspection. Probably won't be cheap. 202,000 miles, shit happens. Last year cost over $3000. Couldn't possibly be as bad this year. At least I know it won't need tires and brakes.
