Fitment question and opinion on tires?


Fawk Goodyear indeed!

They were loud . They decreased mileage by about 2mpg . They were loud . They rode rough . Not sort of rough , but whole vehicle vibrating kind of rough .

We must have the same tires. I have some BFG KO ATs that were retreaded with mud tire skins. I put them on my 2 door Explorer so I can move it around the yard - I drove it ONCE on the street and found that they will vibrate your fillings out at 25mph. They might as well be square shaped.

Just out of curiosity because I am shopping for winter tires as well: has anyone run the military tires available used? I checked and it looks like the 2011 can fit them. Definately going to have to do something about torque first, though. I don't think the 4.0 SOHUCK can handle 33s as of now...

 
What do you people have against actual snow tires? Mud tires are not winter tires, they are the complete opposite in every way! None of those things will perform even a fraction as well as a true snow tire.

I agree but for some reason the mind set sticks. There is a reason true snow tires are the exact opposite design of mud tires.
 
Maybe the issue is where they're being used? To me, mud tires are a good option for off road deep snow use. Totally wrong if you're dealing with snow on pavement.

Eh, my F-150 with open diffs and AT's in 2wd will thrash my Ranger in 4wd with a limited slip and MT's in deep snow.

I am kind of done with MT's.

Even on the trailride, @97RangerXLT was right in front of me and seemed to do everything just as easy as I did with AT's.

No interest/need in straight snow tires, all-terrains work fine for me.

I like my Falkens on my dd, my father in law put General Grabber AT's on his F-150 really likes them. I might go that direction for my Ranger for something different, they look a little more retro than my Falkens.

What did goodyear do?

Snow falls, covers ground, melts, makes mud.

Yep, no issues with my BFG K02's. I do have limited slip, but other than that it is pretty much stock

I agree. Where you use them and how much your going to use them makes a bug difference. I only see occasional snow here. So it doesn't make sense to have an extra set of tires/wheels to store and then swap them out when its supposed to snow. And like somebody said above, the snow falls. It melts and mud happens. If I lived up in the frozen tundra I would have snow tires for my vehicles.

Mud tires work on wheelers in the snow, not so much a car/truck.

I second the Firestone winterforce suggestion. It's all I've run for a dedicated snow tire for the past 10 years. Definitely won't dissapoint.

I'm quite certain it's actually much less than that but I do enjoy the conspiracy theories and watching things get blown out of proportion.

The fact that the presentation slide specified some political attire "ok" and other equally political attire "not ok" is the big issue i see there.

For example.

Black lives matter is ok

All lives matter and blue lives matter is not ok.

That is a contradiction. Both are political on opposite sides of the issue. Bad, bad, bad Goodyear.
