It was worth a shot to go for it, but I’m afraid there was never any doubt about how it would go in general. Everyone talks about all the divisions in this country, except for the main one: class. The rich will take care of their own, and all the rest is just acting and posing. It doesn’t matter what party or politician it is, not one of them has the interests of the nation at heart. It’s only about power, which means taking care of others with power. Individual small business owners don’t count. From corona virus to helpful kissing teddy bears.... to anchovies. This thread has been all over the place.
Lets reel this thing in a bit and look at these SBA PPP loans.
My company was in on this the very minute the flood gates opened... following the process... I was eligible for $35k. It was based on 10 weeks of payroll expenses. My business got ZERO. They ran out of money.
Seems there were many publicly traded companies with sizeable Net worth that weren't even eligible to begin with. They jumped in and broke the program before it could even help the small business it was intended for. These businesses had their own funding but jumped in on all of it and somehow got sent to the front of the handout line and walked away with the lions share of the SBA dollars.
So when your favorite little breakfast place... small retail store.... or any other small business that was forced to close it's doors doesn't reopen.... you can blame a bunch of large greed driven corporations.
I first heard of this on the news.... it mentioned three restaurant chains (publicly traded) that had collected large funding from this SBA program. Ruth Criss Steakhouse - $20 million... Potbelly - $12 million and Shake Shack - 10 Million. Of those three... Shake Shack is returning the money because they had dollars from another program. Potbelly.... they're keeping it... to "pay our employees". Ruth Criss... declined to comment.
This should all be public record and I'm going to find out these large corporations and I will never spend another dollar with anyone of them. The money that Potbelly walked away with would have funded over 4,100 businesses the size of my company. Remember... it's your tax dollars they took. This article list many but I'm sure it isn't the complete list. I haven't even heard of most of these companies but I'm sure as time goes by we will find more that we do know...
