Coronavirus

I remember years ago, early 80's, pulling our camper north up I-95 from Fla. As we approached NJ / NY line you could see a huge white moving cloud low to the ground. It looked like it was moving in a constant up/down and circular motion. This was the first time we had run north this way. It wasn't till we were about 1-2 miles from it that we realized it was millions of seagulls circling a huge dump/landfill. Don't remember exactly where on I-95 it was, but we never forgot it. Made jokes about the other lower 46 states shipping their garbage there.

Nj took new yorks garbage for a long time (the Jets still wont go away). Pretty much anywhere you go in NJ there is an old landfill under your feet. Almost all golf courses are old landfills, parks, baseball and football feilds, schools are built on landfills because land is cheap. There's just no land left for new landfills in NJ...

Well, those protestors are being incited by a President that is trying to start some kind of revolution.

I seriously doubt he's looking for a revolution... sway a vote or two maybe? You just never know what will come out of his mouth next. It does seem to me the Dem's have an all out initiative during one of our nations most difficult times to do the same thing... sway a few votes. Right now there should be no divide... act like adults and come to some form of solution.

There will always be radicals... but at the end of the day... many families are just hurting. Can't pay bills... standing in food lines for handouts. Left to sit in their homes and ponder how they can come back from the economic impacts that are being forced upon them... By elected officials that swore to do their jobs. Protect their rights. I will guarantee not a single elected official has missed a meal or wonders how they will survive this financially. Not only should we worry about many small businesses not making it... there will be most likely a bunch of families that won't also.

I'm not saying turn on a switch and go back to normal... but we better get the ball rolling again in the right direction soon.

For the garbage thing... Our brethren from Canada sent my mitten state their trash for many years... I think there are people still doing jail time for Michigan's misfortune.

Yes, the truly human attitude of..........."I don't care where you dump your garbage(or build your Prisons) as long as its not near me"

Most people seem only to be able to hold one idea in their minds at a time. Either the virus is real or people are trying to use it for gain and fraud. In fact both can be true, and evidence of fraud and manipulation is usually a sign of a real crisis, because that’s when the con men get their best traction. I don’t have any trust for any of the elite factions, regardless of who’s side they claim to be on - it’s not my side for sure, and they’re all using it to advance their personal power.

Right now I’ve got that now-familiar feeling that just about everyone is lying to me to support some agenda or another, and it’s extraordinarily difficult to find out the truth. The bull$hit is obvious but I have few ways to verify things on my own. I strongly suspect most people have no symptoms to this thing, and that exposure is widespread - but how wide I can’t know and why some are simply crushed by it is a mystery still. Population density and initial exposure dose seem to be part of that.

As for getting back to work, one cannot ignore the economic crisis and its effect on people. It’s not trivial and lives will be destroyed by it too.

It seems we're trying to figure out the lesser of two evils with limited or inaccessible access to the necessary information to make that decision.

Remember that time everyone thought it would be a good idea to load barges with trash and push them out to sea?

Good times...
I remember when Liberals hated suburban sprawl and wanted everyone to live in cities where they would use less space. That was way back three months ago.

There is finally an anti-body test that can show if you had it and recovered without actually being diagnosed.

They did a run of testing with it in a part of California looking for people who had it and recovered, trying to get a sense of just how wide spread it actually was. They did their tests, ran their statistical analysis, and came back with the conclusion that the actual infection rate, nation-wide, may be 50-80 times, not percent, but 50-80 times higher than previously known, putting the upper end estimates of the actual number of US infected near 48 million.

Here is the study: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.14.20062463v1

Here is the article that made me aware of it: https://townhall.com/tipsheet/brons...ns-much-higher-death-rate-much-lower-n2567155

Yes, that was one of the things I had read. I don't really trust any one article, study or source, but it's not the only one. I'm keeping an eye on it.

My daughters best friend is still recovering from it. She still has a cough and hasn't regained her sense of smell or taste, but is getting better.

I think if we knew there were a lot of people that had it and recovered and never knew what they had, people would be more likely to say screw it and move forward.

It will be interesting to see what this all looked like when we look back on it in the future.

I am too. To my knowledge this is the only published study of it's kind so far. I am expecting others in the weeks to come.

If someone comes in to my area looking to do an anti-body test like this I want to try and get tested. My wife and I both had a cold that fits the description of a more mild case of Corona back near the end of October, and with the date that it may have first made it to the US getting pushed earlier all the time I am suspicious. Particularly of her case because she had it for weeks, was constantly told my her doc it was viral, not flu, nothing to be done just ride it out, and then after a month they gave her a z-pac and it cleared up in days. Azithromycin (Z-Pac) is one of the drugs proven effective against COVID-19.

The DeLorean and I just got back from 2050. It looks like we all took semi-justifiable fears and acted like blithering idiots.
