Who needs a magnetosphere anyway?

This has always bugged me when scientists talk about mars and terraforming the planet. Even if it were possible to somehow reform an atmosphere, with no magnetosphere to protect it, it would just be blasted into space by solar winds anyway.

The only reason earth isnt a dead dry rock like mars is because of the giant magnetic force field around it. So step one would be to somehow reactivate the planets core. Go go crappy scifi movie!!

So we have to build a nuclear powered, laser drilling worm... Dig to the center of mars... drop pieces of it in precision locations... then blow them up in perfect sequence. We’re going to need a lot of unobtainium.

Well dont forget after that we need to start filling the planet with oxygen and nitrogen generators. And then get Ice Cube to fight off the zombie ghost creatures...
