Fixing up my extended cab.

Looks like I'm gonna have to do some "fixing up" again. I hit a dog on Memorial Day. A 148lb Mastiff to be exact. Dealing with the owners homeowners insurance. Luckily I have extra coverage on the truck, or else this would be an obvious total loss (I would retain it anyway). Unfortunately I don't think the dog made it, he was in pretty rough shape when the owner took him to the emergency vet.

Dang, he got the whole side of your truck.

You hit him? Looks like he hit you.

i forgot how awesome that truck is. bummer about this situation though....

i hope it works out well.

Their insurance is trying to total it. Not surprising. They're not honoring the $5k agreed value I have through my carrier. They're offering me $3100 and change if I retain it, and I'll have to get a rebuilt title obviously. He says he couldn't find many comparable vehicles, the ones he did find were in the 1400-2500 range. I hopped on Autotrader and found THIS ..so obviously they're hoping I'm dumb and just take what they offer me, which I don't plan on doing. I also don't plan on going through my own insurance. Many people don't understand you lose a lot of your negotiating power when you go through your own insurance after caving to the at fault parties carrier. I've already been in contact with my agent and she is going to be in touch with the adjuster. Hopefully I can get this resolved.

3800 to retain it is likely the best deal in short term.

my truck has been totalled a few times. agreed value coverage costs more then the payout for me in mi.....over 2 years.

be wise and slow.

I'm looking to get out of this without a branded title.

The estimate they wrote is below the TL threshold if they honored my policy. They only wrote 3100 and change, which is low but whatever. They valued my truck at 3300. My immediate response was "Yeah that's the average retail value of a stock ranger according to NADA". I could tell he was a little surprised by my response. I still haven't told him what I do for a living.

:D I also have learned I need to discuss the value of my truck with my agent lol.

:yahoo:$3125 and no branded title. I can deal with that. I still haven't seen the actual estimate. I imagine I'll have it and the check in the mail tomorrow. Not that it matters but I'm just curious of how pourly its written considering its $400 short of the sheet I "conservatively" wrote at work. But all is well, I mainly wanted out of this without have a rebuilt title.

After 15 years with Mustang wheels, its finally time for an upgrade. Ordered these Friday night. JNC034 in black chrome. 17x8 +30 front and 17x9 +25 rear.

Well the wheels are advertised as having a 73mm center bore, so I figured they'd work. Turns out the center cap hole was only 57mm. So had to bore them out. I'm lucky my father in law is a machinist! Heres to hoping I can get a bearing dust cap on without denting it!

word to all you people that live back in the snow states If you can you get used body parts with no cancer in them Best thing to do it strip then down and take them to a powder coat place and have them Powder coat all your outside sheet metal your bed fenders hood doors. If you can strip down the cab and do the inside floor and roof your truck will last almost forever. Here on the west coast, it gets hot here. A friend of mine bought a Big size swap cooler It was brand new. He took it apart and took all the sheet metal down to the place it cost him an extra 200.00 on top of the 600.00 he spent for it. He's had that thing for 10 seasons means 10 Years. There is no cancer showing on any of the metal even where the grids go Nothing it looks brand new he's had to change the pump almost every year. and the motor was changed 2 times and the wiring and the relay. He uses it in his shop he has a downdraft on the roof and it been up there for 6 years nothing wrong with the Pan it looks Brand new faded cus he had it done in white.

So think about powder coating your stuff that sits out the side in the cold and snow It hurts in the beginning but no cancer in the later years

actually....the best thing to do if you use it all year is to throw it away after 5 years.

seriously though....under coating or powder coat will destroy the steel faster then just cleaning it up and painting it every few years.

if my truck was undercoated or powder coated it would have returned to the earth about 700 k miles ago..

but the z man knows his shit....looking forward to the results.
