Finished up the installation, programming, and testing of the water/methanol injection system yesterday. I think I'm running too much for a N/A engine right now, but that's OK. I have the spray set up to activate at WOT only. If I time it just rigjt, I get a nice, smooth torque boost on a delay. It does immediately end all labor knocking, though (yes, I know I have my spark run up a little too much). Hopefully this will be effective as a chemical intercooler, and to keep the rotors cool. Something tells me this blower is a little small for a 2.9, but I can't rationalize moving up in size to the M90. The bigger blower seems too easy to screw up when I was doing the math.
So for now, I'll just use it to knock back the, um, knock.
After I finished up the water/methanol system, I started mocking up the adapter plate with cardboard for the M62. Looks like the easiest way to mount this is going to be on the passenger side of the engine, using the bolt holes on the exhaust flanges as a guide. If I would have stuck with the Ranger intake, the drivers side would have been fine.
So. I just wrote out rhat sentence for mounting position and realised how dumb of an idea that is. That part of the heads gets really freaking hot. And the headers will only make it worse. Damnit.
Well. Yesterday afternoon was a wash.
Back to the drawing board/scrap engine. Going to need more beer boxes for templates. I'll get right on that. ????
Oh. And I found this site. If I do blow my 2.9, this is a good alternative to another one. Plus, really good supercharging tips, especially with regards to pulley selection.
